  2. Swineshead sinkholepublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 12 July 2018

Officials from a Lincolnshire bus company says they had a "lucky escape" after a double decker school bus almost fell into a sinkhole.

It happened yesterday at Swineshead as the bus dropped a student off in High Green Road.

    Sinkhole

Malcolm Wheatley is the operations manager for Brylane travel and says the hole is deeper than it looks:

    Quote Message

When we got the bus clear from the hole we found that under there was a huge void, it was probably 11ft in each direction.

    Malcolm Wheatley, Brylane travel

A spokeperson for the local highways says "The road has been closed. Anglian Water and British Gas have been contacted and will be inspecting the site. Once that investigation has concluded, we'll have a clearer idea of what works are necessary to repair the road and how long that might take".

  3. Potential algae outbreak in North Lincolnshire pondpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 12 July 2018

People and dog walkers visiting a Scunthorpe pond are being urged to be careful, as investigations are carried out to see if it contains blue green algae.

North Lincolnshire council says it's working with the Environment Agency at Ashby Ville Local Nature Reserve to determine if the lake contains blue green algae.

The algae can be dangerous and often fatal to dogs who swim in it and ingest the bacteria.

    Quote Message

It is important that people and animals don’t come into contact with the water or enter the pond as it could be dangerous. Not all blue green algae blooms and scums are toxic, but you cannot tell by just looking at them – it is best to assume they are. We would rather be safe than sorry. It isn’t worth the risk.

  5. Trump visit: Officer accommodation like 'warzone'published at 15:23 British Summer Time 12 July 2018

The Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner has compared the accommodation his officers are staying in for President Trump's visit to that of a "warzone".

As we told you earlier 16 officers from Lincolnshire are heading to London and Scotland to assist with the trip and some have had their leave cancelled at short notice.

However pictures have circulated of showing cot-style beds set up in a sports hall.

    Marc Jones say's it's unacceptable:

    Quote Message

Everyone knew this was going to happen and it's very disappointing that the best accommodation that we can offer for officers asked to do 12-hour shifts is beds, 18 inches apart and 300 deep in a gym. It just isn't good enough.

Marc Jones, Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner

A specialist team, which includes consultants and nurses, are training families and carers in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, to look after their loved ones at home.

It's expected it will save the NHS hundreds of thousands of pounds.

    Tubes lines

Tom Birkitt, 25, from Barton is severely disabled and needs feeding by a line into a vein near his heart.

It meant he once spent almost two years in hospital.

But then his mum Debbie was taught to give Tom the drugs to help keep him alive.

    Quote Message

It's very nerve-wracking, because you're doing a job trained nurses do. We had 12 days training. At the start I had my dad here because I was so nervous. It would take half an hour. We can do it now with our eyes shut now.

    Debbie Birkitt, Tom's mum
