"She does not want to feel frightened walking down the High Street. I do not want to take my nine-year-old down the High Street and her be exposed to this so I feel it, I understand it, I see it and we need to tackle it."

  13. Headteacher criticises "shameful" commentspublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 19 July 2018

Councillors who described pupils' plans to revamp Boston marketplace with an arch as "bonkers" and "tacky" have been criticised by the school's headteacher.

The archway was suggested for the entrance from Wide Bargate, with pupils from Boston High School saying they felt the arch would "make the market place more noticeable and attractive".

The proposal formed part of a project with Boston Borough Council.

One councillor said the idea was "bonkers", while another called it "rather tacky".

Andrew Fulbrook, the head teacher of Boston High School, has defended the pupils though and described the comments as "shameful and ill-advised".
