    People in Boston are being asked to keep an eye out for a man who has absconded from HMP North Sea Camp.

    Lincolnshire Police say not to approach Stephen Spencer, but call 999.

    34-year-old Spencer absconded between 04:45-07:00 today.

    Spencer is originally from Doncaster and has links to Sheffield and Rotherham.

    Three years after plans were shelved due to funding problems it looks like a Lincoln park will see further restoration.

    The Heritage Lottery fund has awarded more than £60,000 to restore the lake area of Boultham Park.

    The project hopes to create new fishing areas, pathways and improve the water quality.

  5. Police and Crime Commissioner 'shocked' at reportpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 17 July 2018

    Lincolnshire's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) says the force has "work to do" to reassure him after inspectors rated the force as inadequate at recording crimes.

    The report revealed the force fails to record one in five crimes.

    It also raised concerns about how it handles cases of violence, sexual offence and domestic abuse.

    Marc Jones, PCC for Lincolnshire said he was shocked by the report but he believed it didn't reflect the efforts of officers and staff in the county.

    He says he has taken action to set up an independent panel to oversee and support the forces' work to improve its crime recording procedures.

    The force has apologised and says it's committed to improving their system.

    We mentioned earlier that aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial flight will be appearing on the big screen today as part of a documentary about the Spitfire.

    If you're around Waddington you might have noticed some new art installations up around the village.

    It's as part of the new village arts and heritage trail 'Emblems'.

    The six new artworks have been made by artists Grennan and Sperandio.

    The trail will be launched on Sunday with a walk with one of the artists and a historian Dave Reeves, who will explain the concepts and inspiration for the artworks and uncover the hidden history of key locations in Waddington.

    Here's photographic evidence that the Bakewell pudding, which was lost last month after reaching the edge of space, has been found.

    It was found by Neil Pawson who was out walking his dog in the Lincolnshire Wolds, near Louth, at the weekend.

    Neil's husband Lou said he was “very confused” by it at first.

    The pudding was launched from S. Anselm's School, Bakewell in June but they lost track when it was 52,000ft over Saxilby, near Lincoln a few days later.

    Nick McCloud from the school, who's on his way to collect it, said the pudding appeared to have been "nibbled" around the edges.

    Cinemas across Lincolnshire are showing a special documentary today as part of the RAF 100 commemorations.

    Spitfire, external features veterans who flew in the World War Two and is narrated by Charles Dance.

    Part of the filming involved the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby.

    Lincolnshire Police says it is "committed" to improving its reporting of crime, after a report found it was failing to record one in five crimes.

    The force is guilty of 'unacceptable failings' and of letting victims down, says the report from Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary.

    There are particular concerns over the handling of violent crimes, sexual offences and domestic abuse.

    Deputy Chief Constable Craig Naylor said the force was working hard to resolve matters.

    However, he said errors in recording reported crime did not affect the service to victims or the pursuit of offenders.

    He said the report gave the impression some crime was going unreported and unnoticed by the force.

    Business leaders are questioning a new report which says Lincolnshire firms are at the bottom of a table for confidence in the future.

    Lloyds Bank says companies here are becoming more cautious, aren't recruiting staff and are planning to spend less money.

    Some firms say they don't agree, while others say the government needs to sort itself out over Brexit so they can plan for the future.

    Remember the Bakewell pudding that was sent to the edge of space and disappeared?

    Pupils at S. Anselm's Preparatory School in Derbyshire launched the dessert, attached to a high altitude balloon in June.

    But they lost contact with its tracking device when it was 52,500ft over Saxilby, near Lincoln.

    Well it's been found not too far away in the Lincolnshire Wolds, near Louth.

    Nick McCloud, who helped the school with the launch, said: "On Saturday I got a phone call from a farmer who found it in a corner of his field.

    "He very kindly phoned me up and has sent me a picture of the payload looking pretty intact."

    However he said it had "very clearly been nibbled on the edges".

    Could this be proof of extraterrestrial life?

    We'll have to wait for Nick to retrieve the pudding later today and check the on-board camera to find out...

    Thousands of crimes, including sexual offences and rape, have gone unrecorded by Lincolnshire Police, a watchdog has found.

    The force failed to record 9,400 crimes, about 18.8% of its total, in 2017, according to a new report.

    Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) rated the force as "inadequate" for recording crime.

    The force said there were "no missed victims or offenders" and blamed procedural errors for the problems.

    Humberside Police force has said there is more to do when it comes to recording crimes, after a government inspection found they weren't recording some crimes properly.

    Deputy Chief Constable Chris Rowley said they were pleased the report acknowledged the pro-active response they were taking to recording crime.

    However, the rules around recording crime and are very complex and have recently changed, he said.

    Chris Rowley added that the force records around 90,000 crimes a year, with the vast majority recorded correctly.

    The Inspectorate of Constabulary found the force was failing to record one in five violent crimes - some 6,200 violent crimes a year.

    Huge bridge beams, which form part of Lincoln's new Eastern bypass, are being delivered this morning.

    They're part of the new Greetwell railway bridge and will carry the road over the Lincoln to Market Rasen line.

    The 16 beams - some 15m long and some 26m long - will be delivered over the next two weeks.

    Once on site, the beams will be lifted from the lorries by a 160-tonne crane, before being assembled to form the supports of the new bridge deck.

    The archaeological dig at Vinegarth in Epworth starts today and runs till 28 July.

    The archaeologists need volunteers of all ages to help carry out the dig and full training will be given.

    There are hopes a bronze statue of Margaret Thatcher could be erected in Grantham, if agreements can be reached.

    Mrs Thatcher, the country's first female Prime Minister, was born and raised in the town.

    South Kesteven District Council says it's in discussion with the Grantham Community Heritage Association and The Public Memorials Appeal over a 10ft 6in statue of the late politician.

    Officials say the statue would help to boost the town's economy and encourage people to find out more about her legacy.
