    Lincolnshire's Chief Constable will continue as the police's national spokesman on crime recording, despite a damning report on his own force's performance.

    Mr Skelly is currently the country's top officer on crime recording and statistics, but his force was rated inadequate yesterday by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary after it emerged his officers failed to record one in five reported crimes.

    But the National Police Chiefs' Council says Mr Skelly has been instrumental in helping other forces to deliver improvements in crime recording, placing victims at the heart of everything officers do.

    A spokesman added: "He continues to do an exemplary job and there are no plans for him to step down as the lead for this portfolio."

    A man found dead at a property in Cleethorpes has been named as Sean Lyall.

    Officers were called to the property in Sidney Street, Cleethorpes, at 18:45 BST on Tuesday.

    Sean Lyall is also known as Sean Ireland.

    Investigators and forensic officers have been carrying out their work throughout the day and making house to house enquiries locally.

    A scene guard will likely be in place for the next few days.

    A supermarket in Grimsby is introducing a weekly 'quieter hour' so that people with autism can have a more relaxed shopping experience.

    The Laceby branch of Morrisons will host the hour every Saturday between 9 and 10 in the morning.

    The store will turn down the lights, turn off the music and mute the sounds of all tills to create a calmer environment for shoppers.

    The number of children putting their lives at risk by trespassing on train tracks in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire has nearly doubled in the last four years.

    A video , externalhas been produced to highlight the dangers of restricted areas on the railway.

    Last year, 32 young people were caught trespassing on lines in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, up from 17 in 2014.

    The charity behind the poppy appeal is appealing for more volunteers in Spalding.

    There are concerns that the Royal British Legion, external branch in the town may have to close, if new members don't step up.

    The group says it's because many of their volunteers are becoming too frail to fundraise.

    Volunteers organise the town's Remembrance Day Parade and the Poppy Appeal and there are now concerns these will not be able to go ahead unless new help comes in.

    A man was assaulted and had a valuable bracelet stolen during an incident in Grimsby.

    It happened on West St Mary's Gate on 13 July at around 17:00.

    A man, who was sat in a black Volkswagen Eos car with the window open, was approached by two men.

    They spoke to him through the window, and while doing so one of the men assaulted the victim while the other stole the victim’s gold bracelet.

    The only description of the suspects is that they were both white with one wearing a grey top and shorts and the other a yellow top.

    The Environment Agency has confirmed that a suspected blue green algae at a nature reserve in North Lincolnshire is toxic.

    Visitors to Ashby Ville Pond are being told to not go in or near the water or let their dogs go for a swim.

    North Lincolnshire Council has put a warden on site and there are warnings signs reminding people to be vigilant.

    Plans for a campsite including 'hobbit hotels', glamping pods and static and touring caravans have been approved by councillors in North Kesteven.

    The agent for the applicant, R & B. L Brewer, says the development would help diversify business and offer something different from other sites.

    British Steel workers have received a 4% pay rise and 1,000 new workers have been recruited, since the company took control of the Scunthorpe site in 2016.

    British Steel has announced a £50m upgrade of its Scunthorpe rod mill.

    The company, based in the North Lincolnshire town, said it was the "biggest single investment in its manufacturing operations for a decade".

    The business was purchased off Tata in 2016 for £1 by Greybull, a UK-based investment firm, and renamed British Steel.

    Paul McBean from the Community Union says workers have "grafted together" to ensure the company does well.

    A very rare statue, found buried in weeds in a garden near Louth, has sold at auction for £5,750.

    The Lily Maid, made by renowned sculptor Gilbert Bayes, was sold in 1927 and hasn't been moved since.

    Auctioneers had estimated the statue would sell for up to £5,000.

    A second man has died following a crash involving three lorries near Grantham earlier this month.

    Lincolnshire Police officers have confirmed the man was from London and was in his 50s.

    He'd been a passenger in one of the lorries.

    The incident at Little Ponton on the A1 closed the carriageway in both directions for nearly 12 hours.

    Investigations are continuing.

    A Lincolnshire motor bike racer remains in a critical condition after a crash which killed another rider.

    Ivan Lintin from Bardney was involved in a four rider crash at last week's Isle of Man TT in which James Lowton from Driffield died, and two others were injured.

    Leicester City's Harry Maguire caused a stir as he turned up to watch Gainsborough Trinity FC's pre-season friendly against Chesterfield last night.

    The centre-back, who scored for England in their 2-0 win over Sweden during the World Cup, was there to see his two brothers, Laurence and Joe, play in the opposing sides.

    At half-time long queues formed as fans waited to get autographs and photos with the footballer.

    BBC Radio Lincolnshire reporter Rob Makepeace praised Maguire for taking the time to speak to each of them.

    A public meeting's being held in Donington on Bain today to discuss a proposed oil well nearby.

    It would be in Biscathorpe in the Lincolnshire Wolds and has already been granted permission for exploratory drilling.

    The meeting is at the village hall at 13:00.

    Residents will be able to meet with those responsible for ensuring that oil and gas operations are carried out in a way that protects people and the environment.
