    Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses after a 49-year-old man was assaulted in Scunthorpe at the weekend.

    The victim suffered serious head injuries, including a fractured skull and jaw, during the assault outside the Light Nightclub on Doncaster Road at about 04:00 on Saturday 28 July.

    Officers say they want to identify a man carrying a red satchel bag who was seen walking away, external from the scene with three women in the direction of Sainsbury's.

  4. Over £1m awarded to Boston Stumppublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 31 July 2018

    Nearly £1.2m of funding has been awarded to the Boston Stump to transform the church into a space for the whole community.

    It's come from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the money will go towards a £2.6m project which will include redoing the west tower and creating an area inside St Botolph's church which will be inviting and open for everyone.

    The heritage project will also see the church become a centre of cultural learning and music excellence.

    It's hope it will increase the number of visitors to the area and promote Boston's heritage to an overseas market.

    The completion date of Lincoln's Eastern Bypass has slipped back even further.

    Councillor Richard Davies, the man in charge of the county's highways, has told BBC Radio Lincolnshire the road will now be finished in Spring 2020.

    The scheme suffered a major setback earlier this year with the collapse of construction giant Carillion.

    The cost of the project has also gone up from an estimated £100m to £121m because of the cost of archaeological digs.

    But Mr Davies says the council has additional money to cover the cost.

    Part of Grimsby's historic dock landscape has been removed for safety reasons.

    The conveyor belts at the town's derelict Ice Factory have been taken down after a structural assessment found they could pose a risk to the public.

    The owners of the site, Associated British Ports, say the belts will be inspected before work is done to restore them and put them back.

    Earlier this year, the Ice Factory was included on a list of European buildings most at risk of being lost.

  7. Workers tackle tough heights to repair Louth spirepublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 31 July 2018

    Minor repair work's being carried out on the spire of St James' Church in Louth.

    The church is renowned for having the tallest steeple of any medieval parish church in Britain.

    The work includes repairing the weathervane at the top of the spire to prevent water getting in and damaging the stonework.

    It costs about £80,000 to maintain the building each year.

    There's slow traffic on the A1 Southbound at Marston due to a broken down lorry.

    One lane is closed on the exit slip road on the Marston turn off.

  9. Six-year-old girl saved from sea at Skegnesspublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 31 July 2018

    A six-year-old girl has been rescued from Skegness beach after drifting 20m out to sea.

    The girl had lost her footing and was dragged to to deep water.

    She was noticed by one of the RNLI's newest recruits, Jake Hamilton, who immediately swam out to rescue her.

    She was completely submerged when Jake reached her.

    The child was fine after and required no medical attention following checks, according to the RNLI.

    The lifeboat organisation is urging everyone to take extra care at the coast.

    Work is due to start on a new community facility for Barton upon Humber after a special ceremony.

    The hub will include a library, health and wellbeing support and leisure facilities.

    By combining services, North Lincolnshire Council says the centre will be able to have longer opening hours.

    It's hoped the £2m project will be completed by spring next year.

  12. Witness appeal after van driver's crash deathpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 31 July 2018

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a driver died following a crash between a van and a parked HGV on the A180 in North Lincolnshire earlier.

    It happened in the early hours of this morning at Barnetby Le Wold.

    Officers say a mercedes Sprinter van collided with an HGV which was parked near Croxton.

    The van set alight as a result of the collision and the driver died at the scene.

    The driver of the lorry was not injured.

    Anyone who saw what happened is being asked to contact Humberside Police.

    A year-long restoration of a World War Two aircraft in Lincolnshire has finally been completed.

    The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, external at East Kirkby acquired the Mosquito last year.

    The aircraft was used during the war as a night fighter, bomber and for photo reconnaissance.

    It could reach speeds of 400mph.

    A plan for 32 homes on a former park in Scunthorpe has been submitted, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, external

    It's part of a project by Ongo Homes and North Lincolnshire Council to build 240 new affordable homes in the region.

    The development on Rowland Road Park would include 18 two-bed, 11 three-bed and three 4-bed homes as well as car parking spaces.

    Approval has been given for the former Crosby Primary School site to be used for housing.

    Further applications are expected for the West Street area in Scunthorpe.

    This guy turned up to watch his daughter skydive...and ended up jumping out of a plane himself!

    George Markham, from Messingham in North Lincolnshire, arrived at a parachute centre to support his daughter Joanne.

    But when the opportunity came up, he...er...jumped at the chance to have a go too.

    He took part in the 15,000ft-high tandem skydive and says he loved it.

    Mr Markham managed to raise £616 for Lindsey Lodge Hospice, external in the process.

    It seems he has developed a taste for adventure too because he's now considering a wing walk for his next aerial challenge:

    Degrees should not be a priority when looking for new force recruits, according to a Lincolnshire Police chief.

    From the end of 2019 applicants to police forces in the UK will be required to hold a university degree.

    But Andrew White, Assistant Chief Officer at Lincolnshire Police, says educational qualifications are "somewhat secondary":

  18. Drug-driver sentenced over crash deathpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 31 July 2018

    A Lincolnshire man who killed a motorcyclist and caused life-changing injuries to a passenger has been jailed for more than six years.

    Daniel Pryce, 40, from Parklands Drive, Harlaxton, had two young children in the people carrier he was driving when he overtook another car on the A52 at Aunsby and drove straight into the path of an oncoming motorcycle.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard how he fled the scene, took cocaine and made six phone calls before ringing for an ambulance.

    The motorcyclist, 47-year-old Martin Elam, died as a result of the incident.

    His passenger and partner Trudy Edgington was left registered disabled, suffering injuries including a fractured eye socket and broken ribs.

    Pryce admitted causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving.

    He was sentenced to six years and eight months and disqualified from driving for eight years and four months.

    More than 900 families have been supported by the Lincoln County Hospital's bereavement centre in its first year.

    The centre is based close to the hospital's main reception and offers support and advice to the families of patients who have passed away.

    A person who has been helped by the team says they have been such a comfort.
