    A woman in her 70s has died after being hit by a car at a shopping centre in Lincoln.

    She was hit by a light blue Citreon Xsara at the Birchwood shopping centre on Saturday 6 October.

    It's believed the car also crashed into four other vehicles in the incident which happened at about 14:00.

    Police are appealing for witnesses.

    A farmer with a tractor came to the rescue of a family who were stranded on a beach in Lincolnshire yesterday.

    Mablethorpe Coastguard were called out to Anderby Creek (pictured) at about 18:00.

    They found the 4x4 stuck on the beach.

    A couple and a young child were in the car.

    A local farmer was called to help pull the vehicle off the beach.

  4. Hospital 'no confidence' motion voted downpublished at 10:35 British Summer Time 11 October 2018

    Councillors have rejected a call for a vote of no confidence in the trust that runs Lincolnshire's hospitals.

    The motion was debated at a meeting of East Lindsey District Council last night, but was not supported.

    However, councillors said their support for the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust was condition on it restoring services at Boston's Pilgrim Hospital.

    High risk births and children needing extended observation are currently being transferred elsewhere.

    The change is due to a shortage of doctors.

    The publisher of newspapers including the Boston Standard, Horncastle News and Market Rasen Mail has put itself up for sale

    The move by Johnston Press follows a strategic review.

    The company has £220m of borrowing which is due for repayment in June next year.

    A decline in traditional and digital advertising revenues has seen the value of its titles fall.

    Johnston Press saw revenue fall by 10% in the first half of 2018, although it reported a pre-tax profit of £6.2m.

  6. Man dies in paraglider crashpublished at 09:25 British Summer Time 11 October 2018

    A man's died after crashing his motorised paraglider into a tree in Lincolnshire.

    Police have just released details of the incident.

    It happened on Sunday afternoon in a field at Atterby Carr, near Bishop Norton, north of Lincoln.

    Officers and paramedics were called to the scene at about 13:40, but the 57-year-old died at the scene.

    Six peers have toured Skegness.

    A House of Lords Select Committee is looking at how to regenerate coastal towns and wanted to learn more about the challenges facing the resort.

    Lord Bassam of Brighton said there were clearly long-term problems with employment in Skegness.

    He said the committee would publish a full report, including a series of recommendations, early next year.

    Four people have been arrested after the drug Mamba was discovered in a house in Lincoln.

    Police raided the home on Honington Approach on Ermine West on Wednesday.

    All four were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Mamba.

    This is the "suspicious device" that sparked a major incident in Lincoln city centre yesterday.

    Part of the city centre was evacuated, and the Army's bomb disposal team was called in, after the package was found on a bus at the city's Transport Hub.

    It turned out to be a water pump, mistakenly left behind by a shopper.

    A £2.6m business park near Grimsby, which will bring “much needed investment and jobs” to the area, has been given approval.

    Building work for the 43 hectare Stallingborough Enterprise Zone, off the A180, will start next year and could create more than 2,000 jobs.

    It's part of the £42m South Humber Industrial Investment Programme.

    The plan is designed to try and attract more businesses to the area.

    Lisa Beardsley, from Scunthorpe, suffered paralysis that stopped her smiling.

    She said she felt she looked like a "monster" and would scare children.

    Botox proved the answer to her problem.

    A shop in Lincoln has been banned from selling alcohol after illegal cigarettes were seized.

    Police and trading standards officers found non-duty paid vodka on sale at the Super Stop Shop on Monks Road.

    Counterfeit and illicit cigarettes were also found hidden behind light fittings in the ceiling.

    It's the third shop in Lincolnshire to have its licence revoked over the past week.

    New planning rules, designed to protect the village's appearance, could be introduced in Woodhall Spa.

    The parish council has asked to East Lindsey District Council to introduce an Article 4 Direction.

    This would make it harder for people to make changes to their homes.

    For example, it could mean a ban on plastic windows.

    The council say a Neighbourhood Development Order would also be introduced.

    This would make it easier for people who want make changes to their properties that protect the appearance of the village.

    A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a break-in at a house on Abbey Park Road, in Grimsby, on Monday.

    The man has also been arrested on suspicion of a second burglary, witness intimidation, possession of class C or B drugs and criminal damage.

    He remains in custody, police said.
