The children of a 61-year-old murder victim have issued a heartfelt tribute to their mother after the Scunthorpe man convicted of her killing was sentenced to life imprisonment.

After a seven-day trial at Hull Crown Court, Avaliani, of Tamar Walk, Scunthorpe, was found guilty yesterday of murdering his partner in the flat they shared together in the town in January.
Following the sentencing, Ms Sinakova's two children issued a statement, external:
"Losing our mum has been extremely painful and traumatic for us, especially given the nature of her murder. We are relieved that justice has been served.
“Our mum was the kindest, most loyal and selfless person we knew. She would always put herself last if someone needed help.
"She came to the UK to give us, her children, better prospects for the future, and she has been working very hard ever since. She built a life for herself, and enjoyed her work and friends.
“Nothing will bring our mum back, but we hope that he is kept away from society for as long as possible, as he is clearly a danger to those around him."
A man from Scunthorpe has been sentenced to life in jail for the murder of his partner.

Sentenced at Hull Crown Court, Avaliani will spend a minimum of 16 years and 92 days in prison having spent 273 days on remand.
The carousel ride at Pleasure Island in Cleethorpes has finally been sold.

In March a man bid £180,000 for the historic ride at auction but then said he'd made a mistake.
Now a private buyer has paid a six-figure sum for the antique roundabout which has stood silent for two years.
Prestige Auctions says the ride will stay in this country.

A man who died following a crash on the A46 near Syston has been named by police.
John Lee, 33, died following a two-car crash on 23:40 on 27 September involving a black Volkswagen Golf he was driving and a silver Toyota Yaris.
The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries and was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Miles away from chaos caused earlier today by a bag of shopping mistaken for a suspect device in Lincoln, a real bomb has been found at RAF Cranwell.

Ms O'Connell says she felt she had to leave the Army as a result.
However, she says now she's been selected to compete in athletics and cycling events in the Invictus Games she feels she has her purpose back.

Police have issued an appeal after horses grazing on Lincoln's South Common broke free and were found "running on the roads and up the street".

Horses often graze in the area (pictured), but after midnight last night they had broken loose.
Police taped off the area after putting the horses back on the Common.
Officers are appealing for owners of the horses to come forward.
Volunteers at a church near Boston are counting the cost after thieves stole lead from the roof of Old Leake parish church.

Chief Inspector Stewart Brinn, incident commander, said it wasn't a hoax or a bomb threat but was a "genuine mistake" by whoever left it on the bus.
A cordon, which was about 1 sq km wide at its height, was put in place after the discovery of the suspicious package at about midday.

Bomb experts from the Royal Logistics Corps (above) arrived at the scene at 14:00.
Fire and rescue teams, ambulance incident response teams and dozens of police officers were also in attendance.
The city centre cordons have now been lifted.

People with outpatient appointments at Lincoln County Hospital will be contacted to rearrange them after gridlock on the roads caused by a major incident in the city centre, the hospital has confirmed.

The hospital has been allowing anyone who arrives late to their appointments to be seen anyway.
If patients don't make it to an appointment, or give up trying to reach there, the hospital says it will be in touch to sort another slot.

Bomb disposal experts are currently assessing whether a suspicious package found on a vehicle at Lincoln bus station is a "viable device or not", police have confirmed.

The package was found on the bus at the city centre bus station at about midday.
The area around the site has been evacuated, with approximately 1 sq km currently cordoned off.
