    A bomb squad has now arrived at the scene of a major incident in Lincoln.

    A suspicious package was discovered at Lincoln bus station at 12:00.

    The police cordon has been repeatedly extended from its original location, near to the bus station.

    It is now close to Lincoln's High Street, around 250 metres away.

    Anyone who's parked in Lincoln Central car park is being asked to move their vehicle.

    The request follows concerns over a suspicious package found at Lincoln bus station.

    The suspicious package was found on an incoming bus at about 12:00 today.

    East Midlands Trains have also confirmed trains from Lincoln to Grimsby and to Sleaford have been cancelled because of the security alert.

    Lincoln's railway station has now been closed and a police cordon has been expanded after the discovery of a suspicious package at Lincoln bus station.

    A charity working with elderly people in Lincolnshire says it's hoping to start work on a new state-of-the-art centre next year.

    Age UK is looking to build a £1.5m centre in Horncastle, which it says could create 150 jobs.

    The site, on South Street, will have advice and information services and activities to combat loneliness and isolation.

    An arts centre in Gainsborough is being lit up in pink and blue to help draw attention to the premature deaths of babies.

    A gate could be installed on St Peter's Passage, between House of Fraser and Blacks outdoor shop on the High Street.

    The City of Lincoln Council says the area has been linked with drug use and anti-social behaviour.

    Councillors will make a decision on the closure at a meeting this evening.

    A woman who walked ten miles in the snow to see patients at Lincoln County Hospital has been crowned Nurse of the Year.

    Ward sister Kat Mayer won the accolade at The Sun's Who Cares Wins health awards last night.

    She was recognised after she broadcast her three-hour trek through the snow on social media.

    The snowfall in February, part of a cold snap dubbed the beast from the east by the media, was the worst to hit the country for thirty years and caused widespread disruption.

    A second public meeting on the future of Louth hospital's been announced.

    A consultation is underway over plans to cut 40 beds at the site.

    NHS representatives will be on hand to answer questions.

    The meeting will take place next Thursday at St James' Church.

    Victoria Atkins, the Conservative MP for Louth and Horncastle, held a similar meeting on the issue last week.

    A composer from Lincolnshire is to premiere his latest symphony at The Royal Albert Hall this evening.

    Patrick Hawes has spent the past few years working on The Great War.

    The piece went straight to the top of the classical music chart on its release last week.

    The choral symphony is raising money for the armed forces charity SSAFA.

    It will get its US debut on Armistice Day in Carnegie Hall in New York.

  18. Extra classrooms to solve primary school place shortagepublished at 18:00

    A new seven-classroom extension to a Lincolnshire school which opened three years ago could help deal with a shortage of primary school places, according to its head teacher.

    Lincolnshire County Council has submitted plans to West Lindsey District Council for the additional space at Castle Wood Academy in Gainsborough.

    It will also include a new studio hall, refurbishment of an existing room and extra parking, the Local Democracy Reporting Service says.

    Head teacher Gary Brown said the school was "really excited" by the plans which will mean the facility can take two new classes a year instead of one.

    He said the extension was "because of the massive shortage of primary school places in Gainsborough" which he said was reflected across the country.
