The executive councillor for economy at Lincolnshire County Council says the the closure of Fogarty "wasn't on the authority's radar", according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Councillor Colin Davie said it was a "very sad day".
Fogarty, which made pillows, duvets and bedding had been operating in Boston for more than 100 years.

A piece of land which has been transformed into a garden at Lincoln County Hospital's been officially opened today.
16-year-old George Tempest was the inspiration behind the project.
He had received treatment at the hospital and had wanted somewhere quiet to escape.

The director of a major historical movie has been talking about Lincolnshire's role in the production.
Mike Leigh's latest film tells the story of the Peterloo massacre of people demanding political reform in 1819 in Manchester.
The film will be released next month.
Filming took place in two locations in the county - Lincoln's Castle Square and Gainsborough's Old Hall.
The director says the Old Hall really helped with the film making process.

A Boston motorist was left stunned after having a large firework hit his car , externalwhile he was inside.
Plans for more than 1,300 student flats in Lincoln's St Marks which were originally branded as "bland" by councillors, have been resubmitted with a new design.
It comes as part of a £150m plan to regenerate the St Marks area.
The major development also includes a number of new shops, a hotel and plans for a car park with up to 1,100 spaces.
The collapse of Boston pillow and duvet company Fogarty is "a major blow" to the workers and the heritage of the town, the local Conservative MP Matt Warman has said.
The firm, which has been in the town since 1826, has blamed a difficult retail climate and the loss of a major customer for the shutdown.
In a post on Facebook, Mr Warman said he believed Fogarty was a victim of modern shopping practices.

A burglar who broke into the home of a 73-year-old cancer sufferer, external and stole his bank card has jailed for six years.
A passageway in Lincoln which has been described as a "focal point for drug use" is to be gated off for three years, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
City of Lincoln Council officials say they want to "break the cycle" of anti-social behaviour in St Peter's Passage, which connects Mint Lane with the High Street.
Businesses and local residents have described the passage as a "public health hazard", with some saying that human faeces have had to be cleared away by staff at local firms.
Lincoln Business Improvement Group has offered to cover the costs of closing the passage.

Two teenagers have been arrested in Grimsby following a police pursuit, according to Humberside Police.
Officers say they tried to stop a car on Haven Avenue at about 02:30, but it drove off.
Police followed the car, which was abandoned on Werneth Road a short time later.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and taking a vehicle without consent.
A 16-year-old girl was also arrested for taking a vehicle without consent.
A Lincolnshire college is to become the first in the country to teach all of its students how to spot the victims of modern day slavery.
Boston College is working with the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) to raise awareness of modern slavery and labour exploitation.
Those involved in the project say everyone has a duty to help end modern day slavery.
The union representing workers at Boston's Fogarty bedding factory, which has gone into administration with the loss of about 200 jobs, says it's confident staff will get the wages they're owed and their redundancy money.
Fogarty, which has been in the town since 1826, blamed a difficult retail climate and the loss of a major customer for the shutdown.
The GMB union has told the BBC that it's working with Fogarty employees and the company to deal with the fallout of the firm's sudden collapse.
However, David Shamma, from the GMB union, says he's saddened that staff weren't consulted before the closure:

An extra £650m of funding for social care in the UK which was announced in yesterday's Budget isn't a long-term solution, says one Lincolnshire council leader.
Martin Hill, leader of Lincolnshire County Council, has welcomed the extra funding announced by Chancellor Philip Hammond, but says it's not going to solve the problem.
The authority will have to wait until next year to hear how the government plans to fund care over the next generation, says Mr Hill.
