Grimsby laser pen attack on plane 'very serious'published at 08:04 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2018
A laser pen attack on a flight from Manchester Airport to Denmark which is believed to have originated from Grimsby was "a very serious incident", according to police.
The commercial flight from Manchester to Billund was over North East Lincolnshire at about 18:45 on Sunday when the laser was shone at the aircraft while it was at 29,000ft.
The captain of the flight reported the incident to National Air Traffic Services whose team concluded that the laser attack came from the Grimsby area.
No ill-effects were reported from the crew other than being dazzled by the laser and police say that "luckily on this occasion there was no substantial impact on the flight".
Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact Humberside Police on the non-emergency 101 number.
