1. Grimsby laser pen attack on plane 'very serious'published at 08:04 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2018

    A laser pen attack on a flight from Manchester Airport to Denmark which is believed to have originated from Grimsby was "a very serious incident", according to police.

    The commercial flight from Manchester to Billund was over North East Lincolnshire at about 18:45 on Sunday when the laser was shone at the aircraft while it was at 29,000ft.

    The captain of the flight reported the incident to National Air Traffic Services whose team concluded that the laser attack came from the Grimsby area.

    No ill-effects were reported from the crew other than being dazzled by the laser and police say that "luckily on this occasion there was no substantial impact on the flight".

    Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact Humberside Police on the non-emergency 101 number.

    Plans to build 63 new homes in Nettleham near Lincoln have been submitted.

    It comes after a larger 200 house development was rejected.

    It's for land north of The Hawthorns and would also include a public open space and a new road layout.

    The proposed homes would range in size between two to five-bedroom properties and would also include bungalows.

    Police want to speak to any witnesses of a three-vehicle crash in Bourne yesterday.

    The collision involved a blue Ford Fiesta, a silver Suzuki and a white Mini Cooper.

    It happened on North Road near the A15 at about 09:30.

    One man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, other people involved in the collision were treated for minor injuries.

    The company that's been appointed as administrators for the pillow and duvet firm Fogarty have said this year's hot summer has played a part in the company's collapse.

    The closure was confirmed this afternoon and will mean the loss of over 200 jobs.

    The loss of a key customer was also partly to blame, the administrators Grant Thornton said.

    Union bosses have told the BBC that more than 200 jobs have been lost after a company closed earlier today in Boston.

    Fogarty, which made pillows duvets and bedding, had been operating in the town for more than 100 years.

    Staff were told to go home on Friday because of a lack of orders.

    David Shamma from the GMB union says they were called back for a meeting today to be told all the staff were being made redundant.

    People wearing masks were among those involved in a brawl in Skegness, police say.

    Sticks and pool cues were used as weapons during the fight on Drummond Road, near the Marine Bar, at about 23:30 on Saturday night.

    It is believed some of those wearing masks ran off from the scene.

    Some are also thought to have left in a taxi, police added.
