A Lincoln-based hospice says it is standing by its decision to cancel a torchlight procession in the city last night.
St Barnabas Hospice cancelled the event due to wind and rain and said it had sought the advice of Lincolnshire Police.
But the force says the charity only asked the advice of a PCSO, who said it shouldn't go ahead, which was misunderstood as an official statement.
Quote MessageWe were devastated. The event means so much to the team and the whole Lincoln community so the decision to cancel was taken with a very heavy heart. We still have other events taking place in the county so we hope those who were disappointed last night will join us at those.
