Archaeologists carrying out work at Lincoln Cathedral have discovered the remnants of a 13th century road running beneath the grounds.
The exact purpose of the road isn't known, but experts believe it could have been used to transport stone and building materials for the construction of the cloister.
The excavation also uncovered what's thought to be a late Saxon grave.
If confirmed it could lead to the location of Lincoln's Saxon minster.
Quote MessageUnexpectedly finding a medieval road was amazing. The possibility that we might be getting closer to confirming the location of Lincoln’s Saxon minster is also a very exciting prospect. We’re eagerly working away to see what else is hidden on the site."
