A "funeral" is being held tomorrow for a post office closing down in south-east London.

New Cross Gate post office is the third Crown Post Office to close in London, with nine more preparing to close down across the capital later this year, according to a campaign group.

A petition with 3,000 signatures was handed in to Downing Street earlier this week but the Post Office will close permanently on 14 February.

The funeral will be held at the New Cross office from 11:30-13:00 this Saturday.

Resident and campaigner Laura Wirtz said: “There will be eulogies, a book of condolences and we will dress in black. We love our post office - it’s been part of our community for a hundred years.”

One woman's story of a decade of wrongly diagnosed sexual pain has inspired a play - and with it, the hope that other women with sexual dysfunction can be helped.

It was on a cold winter's day just over a year ago that actress Emily Francis heard an item on the radio that moved her to tears.

"I felt desperately sad listening to Callista's story. This problem with her vagina had destroyed her life. She'd lost her relationship, become depressed... it felt tragic," she says.

Callista, a fashion stylist in San Francisco, had been speaking in London to BBC 100 Women about her long journey to finding a cure for unbearably painful sex.

  10. Celine Dookhran: Jury out in murder trialpublished at 15:29 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2018

A jury has retired to consider verdicts in the trial of a builder who is accused of kidnapping, raping and slitting the throats of two young women.

Mujahid Arshid, 33, is on trial at the Old Bailey accused of murdering his niece Celine Dookhran, 20, and the attempted murder of a second woman.

The court has heard how Mr Arshid, with the help of labourer Vincent Tappu, 28, snatched the women in July last year and bundled them into a pick-up truck bound and gagged.

The defendant allegedly took them to a six-bedroom house he was renovating in Kingston, south west London, where he killed Barclays worker Ms Dookhran and stuffed her body into a freezer.

Jurors have heard how the other woman survived by talking Mr Arshid around after he cut her throat.

But the defendant has blamed the surviving woman for killing Ms Dookhran in a fit of jealousy after he had consensual sex with both of them.

Mr Arshid, formerly of south-west London, denies murder, attempted murder, rape of both women and the previous sexual assault and assault by penetration of the surviving woman when she was about 13.

Together with Mr Tappu, from Acton, west London, he has also pleaded not guilty to the women's kidnap and possession of a taser.

Model Chloe Ayling has told her lawyer she is saddened that many people do not believe she was kidnapped in Italy last summer, as a trial begins in Milan.

Lucasz Herba, 30, is accused of luring the 20-year-old from Croydon, south London, to Milan with the promise of a photoshoot, and then kidnapping her for a ransom.

Ms Ayling's lawyer, Francesco Pesce, told the BBC his client had been terrorised and threatened with death.

Mr Herba argues that Ms Ayling was a willing participant in her abduction.
