Lover of autumn colour, sometimes known as leaf-peepers, could be in for a good season.

The Forestry Commission is predicting an impressive display of vibrant autumn colours from mid-September onwards. If the weather remains fairly dry, the foliage should peak from mid to late October.

Lynford Arboretum, external, near Thetford, is in their top 10 of suggested places in the UK for the "autumn leaf watch", for visitors who want to enjoy a colourful autumnal stroll among the trees.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch, external (MAIB) found that the experienced engineer died in a fire on board the Arco Avon last month after fuel ignited while he was trying to fix a pipe.

"The sad death of an experienced officer serving on a UK registered ship serves as a salient reminder of the risks that crews can be exposed to when policies and procedures designed to mitigate such risks are not followed, and recognised safe systems of work are allowed to lapse," said the MAIB's chief inspector.

A number of safety issues were identified in the report including the onboard culture of lone working which went against recommendations.

The vessel's owners, Hanson Aggregates Marine Limited has been recommended to ensure, "manning levels, watchkeeping duties and communication procedures provide for safe engine room operations at all times".

We hope to hear their views on the report's findings later.

"I promise I will do my best" - the Brownie promise, and the name of Kate's creation in the Great British Bake Off's showstopper challenge.

Last night, the 11 remaining bakers had to make a 3D gingerbread creation, at least 30cm high, with eight characters or objects which told a story.

Norfolk farmer's daughter Kate, who's a Brownie leader, opted to make a Brownie camp, depicting her two daughters. She was the only one of the contestants to make three different gingerbreads, making caramel to hold them together.

Mary thought it looked "absolutely lovely, with beautiful piping", but Paul "struggled to find the ginger taste".

Unfortunately it didn't have the "snap" that Mary was looking for, leaving Candice Brown, from Bedfordshire, to be awarded Star Baker.

Next week it's bread... Good luck Kate... knead I say more.

As it's lunchtime, we're off to the Bake Off tent... but stop reading now if you don't want to know what happened in last night's episode.

    Spoiler alert...

Last week it was a piece of cake... this week it was crunch time - with biscuits and judge Paul Hollywood was "hoping and praying for a mug of tea big enough to dunk all the biscuits in."

Norfolk nurse Kate Barmby's cookie credentials rose to the technical challenge - a Mary Berry recipe for Viennese whirls filled with buttercream and jam.

After much beating and stirring Kate declared she needed "muscles like Salasi to pipe" her whirls, putting some in the fridge to hold their shape... but the crunch question, what did the judges think?

Paul declared them a "nice Viennese whirl", and Mary was impressed "really good definition, they're absolutely beautiful, well done."

Kate took the cookie crown, coming first in the technical challenge, declaring herself "thrilled to bits."
