Police are to continue to be more visible at key sites across Norfolk and Suffolk in the wake of the fourth terrorist incident in recent months.

"I can reassure you that we take any hate crime against people of any background extremely seriously and will respond as such."

Any suspicious behaviour or activity can be reported on 0800 789 321, or 999 in an emergency.

Lesley McAuley described her daughter as having a heart of gold, and a doting mother to her two sons from a previous relationship.

Her two children had been with their father when the attack took place.

"I can imagine them now had that door been unlocked, walking in and shouting 'mummy' as they always did, and being confronted by that scene of absolute horror", said Lesley McAuley.

Norwich Crown Court heard how the mother-of-two had had every bone in her face broken during the attack at her home in Norwich.

Det Ch Insp Marie James said the sentence "highlights the severity and level of violence used in such a disturbing case".

"Nothing can make up for the loss, suffering and pain that Kerri's family have gone through and my thoughts are with them," she said.

"This case was one of the most emotive investigations I have been involved in and has affected the most experienced of officers.

"The public can feel reassured that this dangerous man is going to spend a significant time behind bars where he cannot pose a risk to vulnerable women.”

  14. Help and support for victims of domestic abusepublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Caroline Kingdon
    BBC Local Live

Joe Storey has been handed a life jail sentence - to serve a minimum of 24 years - for the murder of his on-off partner Kerri McAuley.

It took less than an hour for the jury at Norwich Crown Court to convict him.

During the two-week trial friends had described a history of domestic violence which left the mum-of-two "disfigured" and fearing for her life.

Text messages between the two were read out to the court, showing just how violent their relationship was.

Margaret Hill, from the domestic abuse charity Leeway, says patterns of behaviour - harassment, controlling and coercive behaviour - are familiar stories and more needs to be done to raise awareness of the early signs of domestic abuse.

"It's rare a physical abuse relationship will be physically abusive straight away," she said.

"Often there's a controlling and coercive pattern of behaviour - people start to feel controlled, isolated from family and friends, they feel they have to make changes at the last minute, look at the way they dress, maybe what money they're spending, how long they're going to be out of the house."

    Margaret Hill

Ms Hill says two women die a week in the UK at the hands of their partners, and that figure hasn't changed over the years.

"Attitudes have changed... we've got better at prosecutions and supporting people, but we're still missing something," she said.

"We need to try and find what we're missing and reach people who're at highest risk of becoming domestic abuse homicide cases.

"If you're at risk of domestic abuse, talk to somebody.

"Once you start to talk to people, people will help you and will take you seriously.

"They will listen, they will believe you."

"Network Rail put these restrictions in place when high temperatures are expected," she said.

"As trains go over the rails at high speed they can apply great pressure that could cause the metal to buckle.

"There is also the problem of overhead wires sagging.

"To run trains more slowly means that the railway infrastructure is protected better."
