    Turweston Aerodrome on the Buckinghamshire-Northamptonshire border remains closed today following a light aircraft crash yesterday morning in which the pilot was killed.

    The manager of the air tower has said on Facebook the airfield will be closed until Saturday morning.  

    Accident investigators are trying to determine the cause of the crash.

    Network Rail held an event two weeks ago to find out what people in the area thought of the footbridge plans - about 50 people turned up.

    Gary Walsh from Network Rail said: “While we haven’t been able to make every change that was put to us, we have made a few small adjustments to make it easy for those living near the crossing to access their properties."

    Network Rail have released this artist's impression of a footbridge they want to build at Little Bowden...

    If planning permission is approved it will be built over the railway on the edge of Market Harborough.

    The level crossing at Little Bowden was closed last year.

  16. Rye Hill's aging and disabled inmates putting pressure on healthcare, says reportpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 28 July 2016

    The elderly and disabled population of sex offenders prison Rye Hill is continuing to put pressure on the healthcare system, says an annual report, external.

    The prison, near Rugby, was remodelled in April 2014 and now 40% of inmates are over-50s and 33% registered disabled.   

    The report highlights bed watches and end of life care have put "pressure on the staffing of the prison as a whole", and there is a shortage of full time carers for the disabled.

    The report also reveals that bowls and armchair exercises have been introduced as use of the gym has decreased.

    The manager of Turweston air tower has said on Facebook the airfield will be closed until Saturday morning.

    A pilot has been killed after his light aircraft came down at the Buckinghamshire aerodrome this morning. Investigations are under way.

    The pilot killed in the light air crash was the only person on board, police have confirmed.

    Police and ambulance services were called to Turweston Aerodrome at just before 11.30.

    An air crash investigation is under way.

    Thames Valley Police has confirmed a man has died after a light air crash at Turweston Airfield near Brackley.

    Emergency services attended the scene at about 11:30, where the pilot was pronounced dead.

    Police say the death is not believed to be suspicious.

    A pilot has been killed in a light air crash at Turweston Aerodrome on the Buckinghamshire-Northamptonshire border.

    Emergency crews were called shortly before 11:30 but the man had died at the scene. 

    The Air Accident Investigation Branch, external is sending a team to investigate.
