    Community organisations in the county will be taking part in a Funding Fair in Northampton today to hear from a range of charitable trusts and funding organisations about how best to apply for money in the future. 

    Matt Thoresen, who's community development officer with Voluntary Impact Northamptonshire, external says there are lots of organisations that make funding available.

    A light aircraft pilot who died in a crash in south Northamptonshire had just three hours' solo flying experience when he was killed, according to accident investigators.

    Adam Abraham, 39, from south-west London died in the crash at Hinton-in-the-Hedges airfield on 4 September last year.

    A report by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, external said the pilot got into difficulty when the Cessna plane he was flying bounced off the ground during landing. 

    He'd only started taking flying lessons three months earlier.

    Increased costs of imported leather since the pound sterling fell after the Brexit vote is hitting quality shoe maker Cheaneys of Desborough.

    The company, external exports a third of its production and wants to maintain free trade with Europe as one of its important markets. 

    Director William Church hopes favourable trade deals will be negotiated by new Brexit minister David Davies as well as more trade with the rest of the world.

    The money had been lent to the Cobblers to redevelop the ground and land at its Sixfields stadium.

    Council leader Mary Markham said she had committed to the people of Northampton to "go after the people who spent our money".

    Extra funding of £500,000 has been approved by Northampton Borough Council for the fight to recover £10.25m it loaned to Northampton Town Football Club.

    The council lent the club funds in September 2013 towards the redevelopment of its Sixfields Stadium. 

    The authority has already spent £450,000 on legal issues including retaining forensic accountants to work out where the money may have gone. 

    Money recovered will be paid back into the council's reserves.

    There are going to be plenty of mouth-watering league fixtures for Northampton Town this season. The promotion and relegation merry-go-round means the Cobblers travelling to MK Dons and Peterborough.

    It means more matches are likely to be televised - the first of them being the visit of MK Dons to Sixfields in the first few weeks of the season.

    The Football League has confirmed this afternoon that the match will move from 3 September to the following day, with a noon kick off. It'll be shown on Sky Sports.

    Earlier we reported that a serious case review into the death of an 18-week-old baby in Northamptonshire found new services should be set up to help parents with mental health issues. 

    "Child M" died in March 2014. His mother was convicted of manslaughter, having told police that she had shaken him on more than one occasion. 

    In a joint statement, Nene and Corby CCGs told me they are "aware of the Child M report and recognise its importance. We are carefully and actively considering how best to respond to its recommendations".

    Among a series of recommendations, the report said better communication between midwives, health visitors and mental health teams is needed.

    There can't many things to happen to your home worse than flooding - just ask people who live at St James in Northampton, Thrapston, or Billing Aquadrome, among others.

    Areas of our county at risk of flooding have been urged to bid for help from Northamptonshire County Council. In return for putting forward someone from their community to be a flood warden, they'll get a flood survey and help with getting protection they need from surface flooding.

    Last night's warm-up game for Northampton Town at Nuneaton didn't exactly go as planned.

    The Cobblers lost 1-0 and Jak McCourt was injured late in the game while heading clear from a corner.

    The extent of the injury isn't yet known, but Cobblers boss Rob Page says he's relieved that initial scans show no broken bones.

    "We think his shoulder may have popped out and gone straight back in again so he will be having an MRI scan to see if there is any ligament or muscle damage in the area," he said.

    "We may not know the results of that scan until Thursday, but for now we are pleased and relieved that he didn't suffer any broken bones."
