  1. Headless kitten found in Ilkestonpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 27 June 2019

    BBC News Online

A kitten has been found in Ilkeston with its head removed.

The RSPCA said a woman found the cat on her way to work near Merlin Way on 17 June.

RSPCA inspector Sarah Gardner said: "To find the body of a headless cat must have been so awful for the woman.

"We can find that in cases such as this, the animal has died from other causes such as being hit by a vehicle, before a wild animal finds it and takes the head."

However, the RSPCA says a vet believes the cut is clean, so they are not ruling out other possibilities.
