    A five-year-old boy, whose body was found in a Derbyshire reservoir, died as a result of "unlawful killing" a coroner has concluded.

    Jenson Spellman was found alongside his mother Emma Sillett, 41, in Longendale Reservoir two days after they were reported missing from their home in Glossop in November last year.

    Inquests into their deaths found Jenson had been "drowned by another".

    Chesterfield Coroners Court heard Ms Sillett had injuries consistent with drowning "having taken measures to drown herself and another".

    The coroner concluded the social worker's death was suicide.

    With another heatwave forecast, fire officers in Derbyshire are renewing their warning to people not to swim in open water.

    It comes after an 11-year-old girl had to be rescued over the weekend from the River Derwent at a popular spot known locally as Pebble Beach.

    She suffered cold water shock - a shortness of breath and disorientation.

    Station manager Kevin Page told the BBC there's an underwater current that makes getting out of the water "very difficult".

    There's also a weir with sub-surface currents that cause people difficulties.

    Last year 24-year-old Malcolm Wyre died after being pulled from the water at Pebble Beach.

    Police want to speak to this woman after an allegation of "particularly nasty racist abuse".

    It was reported by a taxi driver after he dropped a woman off on Constable Lane in Littleover, Derby, at 2:00 on 15 June.

    The officer admitted you cannot see her face but hoped someone would recognise her long blonde hair and her top.

    An investigation is under way after three guinea pigs were found dumped on an old sofa in Buxton.

    They were in a "small and dirty" cage with no food in an alleyway off Fairfield Road.

    The RSPCA, who has named them Snap, Crackle and Pop, said they were "really friendly" and "otherwise healthy".

    Inspector Heather Morris, who collected the guinea pigs, said: "It’s like someone just decided to chuck them out, along with the sofa, during a spring clean."

    They're now being looked after at a local boarding facility and will be rehomed if no-one claims them.

    The RSPCA would like to hear from anyone who recognises the animals and knows where they’ve come from.

    A school sports centre has been evacuated after chlorine leaked into the swimming pool plant room.

    Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the chemical leak at Repton School earlier.

    Nine people were treated by ambulance staff for potential signs of exposure to chlorine. The school has said no pupils or members of the public have been exposed to any danger.

    Derby County have given Chelsea permission to speak to Rams manager Frank Lampard about becoming the London club's new manager.

    Chelsea legend Lampard, who is the Blues' all-time leading goalscorer, has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge since the club parted ways with Italian Maurizio Sarri earlier this month.

    In a statement, the Rams said: "With pre-season fast approaching for both clubs, it is hoped this will allow Chelsea to swiftly conclude their discussions.

    "The club will make no further comment until it is appropriate to do so."

    A Nottingham professor has struck a chord with bees in a rather unusual way - B(ee) sharp anyone? - by using a cello to host a hive of the pollinating insects.

    Dr Martin Bencsik, an associate professor at Nottingham Trent University, keeps the bees in a cello in his West Bridgford garden.

    A third of British wild bees and hoverflies are in decline, according to a recent study.

    Scientists have warned the loss of bees could create problems in years to come, including the ability to grow food crops.

    Dr Bencsik said: "We hope people will find it beautiful and convey the message they need to be looked after."

    A fire at a disused factory in Melton Mowbray on Sunday was started deliberately, police have confirmed.

    Seven fire engines were called to the building in Snow Hill at about 21:45. No injuries were reported.

    Det Con Rachel Donaghey, of Leicestershire Police, said: "Our investigation is at an early stage and we know from the inquiries that have been carried out so far that the fire was started deliberately."

    Armed police arrested three men in the early hours of this morning following a suspected shooting in Nottinghamshire.

    The men, aged 23, 22, and 20, were arrested in Lexington Place, Plumptree Street in Nottingham city centre on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

    Police say a shotgun was fired towards a car on Roundwood Road, in Arnold, on 8 June. No-one is believed to have been seriously injured.
