    More bad news on the weather front...

    Although the end of the week is looking better, first we'll have to get through two days of potential thunderstorms.

    The Met Office has issued another yellow warning for Tuesday, from midnight until 10:00, alongside today's warning.

    A taxi driver who was caught out by the rise in the cost of parking in rapid drop off at East Midlands Airport said it is "scandalous".

    This morning the cost of a 10 minute stay went up from £2 to £3.

    Terry from NG11 cars said: "It's absolutely scandalous to charge £3 just for the privilege of dropping someone off."

    He added the cost would have to be passed on to passengers.

    East Midlands Airport, which recently scrapped their attempts to charge £2 for a five-minute stay at the rapid drop off, said the extra cash will be used to improve infrastructure.

    The line between Buxton and Manchester has reopened this morning after an earlier emergency incident on the tracks.

    But there are still some delays on the route and is expected to continue until 10:00.

    Trains are being delayed and cancelled between Buxton and Manchester because of an "emergency" on the tracks.

    The nature of the incident is not clear but Northern trains is warning travellers there will be replacement buses from Hazel Grove to Buxton, although they say they have not yet anything anything for the other direction.

  5. Murder arrests after fire deathpublished at 08:40 British Summer Time 24 June 2019

    Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in a flat fire.

    The man was rescued from the property on Lynden Avenue in Long Eaton on Saturday, but died in hospital from his injuries.

    A 54-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man are being questioned by Derbyshire Police.

    The National Forest will be planting its nine millionth tree this year - 25 years on since its creation.

    The forest was established across former mining fields covering Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

    Staff are now preparing for the forest to host the annual Timber Festival, a three-day festival with music and talks starting on 5 July.

    They hope it will inspire more people to plant their own trees.

    East Midlands Airport is (again) raising the price of its rapid drop off.

    Just over a week after they scrapped their controversial £2 for five minute charge, bosses have announced the charge for a 10-minute stay will go up from £2 to £3.

    They said it will be introduced today and will pay for infrastructure improvements and more staff to ease congestion at peak times.

    A major water leak at a school in Nottingham means it will be shut for more than a week.

    It happened at Firbeck Academy in Wollaton and has affected catering and toilet facilities.

    The school was forced to close early on Friday.

    All of the pupils have been relocated to the University of Nottingham Samworth Academy for ten days, whilst work takes place to fix the leak.

    Residents in part of Melton Mowbray have been told to keep windows and doors closed overnight after a fire at an industrial site.
