Inspectors stepped in to take over feeding an elderly care home resident when they witnessed a staff member "rushing the person to eat and encouraging drinks while their mouth was full".
Care Quality Commission (CQC) staff were at Brockshill Woodlands in Oadby when they saw the incident in August.
A report on the visit said: "Due to our concerns, we were forced to intervene to ensure the person's comfort and safety."
The home was given a rating of "requires improvement" after inspectors also found rubbish and towels in the garden, dried up food in the microwave, food debris in catering equipment and problems with infection control.
James Wood, of Prime Life Limited, which owns Brockshill Woodlands, said: "It is hugely disappointing that media outlets focus on any negative issue as opposed to the hundreds of positive issues taking place in care homes every single day.
"I see no merit in making any comment, other than we were disappointed with the outcome, and a new manager is in post and any areas of shortcoming have been remedied and will continue to be monitored."
One of the firm's other homes, Lutterworth Country Care Home, was also rated as requiring improvement last month after a resident was said to have "poo down their fingernails".
