    Inspectors stepped in to take over feeding an elderly care home resident when they witnessed a staff member "rushing the person to eat and encouraging drinks while their mouth was full".

    Care Quality Commission (CQC) staff were at Brockshill Woodlands in Oadby when they saw the incident in August.

    A report on the visit said: "Due to our concerns, we were forced to intervene to ensure the person's comfort and safety."

    The home was given a rating of "requires improvement" after inspectors also found rubbish and towels in the garden, dried up food in the microwave, food debris in catering equipment and problems with infection control.

    James Wood, of Prime Life Limited, which owns Brockshill Woodlands, said: "It is hugely disappointing that media outlets focus on any negative issue as opposed to the hundreds of positive issues taking place in care homes every single day.

    "I see no merit in making any comment, other than we were disappointed with the outcome, and a new manager is in post and any areas of shortcoming have been remedied and will continue to be monitored."

    One of the firm's other homes, Lutterworth Country Care Home, was also rated as requiring improvement last month after a resident was said to have "poo down their fingernails".

    Chatsworth House has warned people not to visit its house and Christmas Market in a car tomorrow and this weekend unless they already have pre-booked tickets.

    Due to flooding and the continued heavy rain, parts of the car park are unsafe, so access has been restricted to visitors coming by car for the next three days.

    Those travelling by public transport will still be accepted.

    A spokesperson for the house wrote on their Facebook page, external: "We apologise for any disappointment this may cause, but we must prioritise the safety of our visitors and staff.

    "We are hopeful that conditions will improve next week, and will be posting regular updates."

    The Christmas market opens tomorrow and runs until 3 December.

    Robin Hood Energy has paid more than £2m in interest on loans taken out from Nottingham City Council.

    The company, which is owned by the city council, was set up with commercial loans from the authority.

    Last month, the council agreed a new £9.5m loan - to be repaid over a six-month period - to pay a green energy bill from regulator Ofgem.

    The not-for-profit company was set up to tackle fuel poverty, with all electricity coming from renewable sources.

    The council's finance boss Sam Webster would not reveal the precise total Robin Hood Energy had paid out in interest but confirmed it was more than £2m.

    He also said the money had been spent on public services.

    A major road in the Peak District has been closed following a rock fall.

    Derbyshire County Council said drivers could not use the A623 between Stoney Middleton and the B6521 Eyam junction until engineers carried out a full inspection later this morning.

    London North Eastern Railway (LNER) says there is major disruption to its services, external passing through Newark North Gate railway station this morning following a derailment at its depot near Leeds.

    It said services between Lincoln and London Kings Cross were being cancelled or amended to not run between Lincoln and Newark North Gate.

    It added no-one had been injured in the low-speed derailment.

    A man, who was arrested on suspicion of terrorist fundraising offences in Leicester, has been released under investigation.

    The 26-year-old was arrested on Tuesday in Great Glen by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North East with help from the the East Midlands Special Operations Unit and Leicestershire Police.

    The Counter Terrorism Unit North East said the arrest was intelligence-led and pre-planned.

    The man, from Leicester, was taken to a police station in the city and has now been released under investigation.

    A property was also searched as part of the investigation.

    A Citroen Picasso towing a van lost control and crashed on the A38 in Derbyshire earlier today, police said.

    The "significantly over capacity" car was the cause of "massive tailbacks" near Coxbench in Derbyshire.

    Police said no-one was injured but they may have to close the road again later so the van can be recovered, a spokesman said.

    The bodies of a man and a woman have been found at a Nottinghamshire home this afternoon, police have said.

    Nottinghamshire Police said they were called to Porchester Road, in Bingham, just before 15:40.

    Officers said they are investigating the circumstances and inquiries were "at an early stage".

    A house has been severely damaged in a fire in Leicester overnight.

    Firefighters were called to the blaze in Tadcaster Avenue, Eyres Monsell, shortly before 00:00.

    It had started on the ground floor.

    Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said everyone in the house managed to escape and they have all been discharged from hospital.

    Overnight road closures at the Wyvern retail park in Derby will start tonight after being delayed by flooding problems.

    Work to build a new roundabout at the junction of Wyvern Way and Derwent Parade was due to start on Monday but was postponed when Chequers Road became flooded.

    Wyvern Way will now close every weekday night from 20:30 to 06:00 until 22 November.

    Radio Derby's Chris Doidge has reported the Lib Dems are looking for a new candidate to replace him.

    In a statement on Twitter, external, Mr Kiddey said: "How many times do voters have to say they are sick of this style of politics before anyone listens?

    "In all the campaigning I have done so far, the thing people want more than anything else is the tirades and aggression to stop."

    The known candidates for High Peak are Labour's Ruth George, Conservative Robert Largan, the Brexit Party's Mark Nolan and the Green Party's Robert Hodgetts-Haley.

    More heavy rain is set to fall across the East Midlands.

    The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Thursday and Friday meaning "further heavy rain may lead to further disruption and flooding".

    Derbyshire Dales District Council is urging residents and businesses to be ready for a possible repeat of last week's flooding that killed one local woman.

    The authority's chief executive, Paul Wilson, said: "While we will always try to help vulnerable residents, our advice to anyone concerned that their home or business is at risk of flooding is to buy sandbags from a hardware store. Garden soil can be used as an alternative."

    The district council is handing out filled sandbags at local "hubs" in areas which suffered most from the flooding on Friday.

    People are being asked to take only what they need so there is enough to go around.

    Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is also asking people to "be prepared" and avoid routes prone to flooding.
