    The parents of a baby girl from Shropshire who died from an infection contracted during birth want all mothers to be tested for the bug. 

    Pippa Griffiths was just a day old when she fell ill with a Group B Strep infection, the biggest cause of meningitis in newborns. 

    The NHS doesn't offer routine testing for the bacteria, but Pippa's parents want that to change.

    Steve Leach and David Wainwright are attempting to rebuild for Shropshire after the loss of early wickets in their second innings.

  11. Lorry driver's fine for carrying illegal immigrants is withdrawnpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 18 July 2016

    A Telford lorry driver who was facing a fine of £10,000 after five illegal immigrants were found hiding in his vehicle has had the penalty overturned by the Home Office.

    Jim Rushton had protested his innocence and pointed out he'd been through all the necessary security checks at Calais, before they were found.

    A group of teenagers have spent the weekend trying to understand what life would be like if they were born in the third world. 

    The Christian youth group, from St Swithun's Church in Cheswardine spent 48 hours living in conditions similar to those you'd find in a slum.

  13. Man with hearing difficulties wants quieter pubs, cafes resterauntspublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 18 July 2016

    A Telford man who suffered hearing loss while he was working for the RAF is backing a campaign to make cafes, bars and restaurants quieter.

    Tom Kane from Dawley is working with the charity Action on Hearing Loss, external and says soft furniture, carpets and curtains can dampen down the noise.

    Mr Kane thinks hard flooring with wipe-clean surfaces are used because they are quicker and and cheaper to clean, but says it can it very difficult to make out what people are saying, if you have a hearing impairment.

  14. Tree hunter's epic eight-year search nears endpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 18 July 2016

    Self-declared "tree hunter" Rob McBride is happy to spend most days without speaking to another soul.

    The former software engineer is at the heart of a long-running project to record and verify ancient trees along the Offa's Dyke path.

    Mr McBride has been working his way along the 177-mile (285km) route from Prestatyn to Chepstow since 2008, logging trees that have historic or cultural significance for the Woodland Trust., external

    But a venture that was supposed to take just "a few weeks" is now in its eighth year and there are still 50 miles and hundreds of trees to go.

    Water restrictions are not on the cards during the hot weather, say Severn Trent, but the company is encouraging customers to be careful with consumption.

    Severn Trent say they've been able to balance out supplies by moving water across the region, helped by last month's rainfall, which filled local reservoirs back up to healthy levels.

    Shropshire will have to bat well if they're to maintain their 100% record in the Minor Counties Championship, after surrendering a 103-run lead to Berkshire.

    Earlier, Andy Rishton hit 92 as Berkshire scored 312.

    And Shropshire are currently 25-1 at the start of their second innings.
