    A planning inquiry in Craven Arms has been moved to a bigger venue to accommodate the 90 people who've turned up. 

    The hearing, which could last up to four days, is into whether Shropshire Council was right to refuse an outline application for new homes at Foldgate Lane, near Ludlow. 

    The council says it'll robustly defend its decision.

    A four-day hearing is due to start in Craven Arms today into plans for housing at Foldgate Lane, near Ludlow. 

    The design was turned down by Shropshire Council but the developer has appealed, meaning a hearing with a planning inspector will go ahead.

    Nearby residents have raised concerns it could lead to an even bigger development.

    A man found with stab wounds in Shrewsbury last night remains in a critical condition in hospital, says West Mercia Police. 

    Officers were called to the Meole Brace area at 21:45 yesterday. 

    Wayford Close and Stapleton Road are currently closed and police have appealed for anyone with information to call 101.

    Officers have been at Stapleton Road since 22:30 and remain there this morning.

    Reports of hate crime to West Mercia Police have risen by about 40% in a year. 

    BBC Hereford & Worcester has seen figures comparing the number of times people who came forward to the police in June 2015 to the same month a year later.

    The biggest increase was in race hate crime - incidents against people's gender, sexuality and faith also went up.

    Det Ch Insp Neil Jamieson, who has been trying to find the 35-year-old since he was reported missing in April, says there are "real concerns about what has happened".
