An MEP for the West Midlands, and Dudley councillor, has made the shortlist of six to become leader of UKIP.
Bill Etheridge, who's 46, has said UKIP should stick by its "core principles and values" and not be "distracted by negative influences".
He has called for major reform of the penal system, including restricting prisoners' privileges, banning visits during the first six months of a sentence and an automatic 10-year increase in sentence for anyone attacking a prison officer.
He also backs far-reaching changes to the tax system, including a 50% cut in alcohol and tobacco duty, replacing VAT with a local sales tax and gradually merging national insurance and income taxes.
Three people have been arrested after a teenager was stabbed in Shrewsbury.
West Mercia Police say the arrests were made in the early hours of this morning, external and all three remain in custody.
A 16-year-old boy was found in Wayford Close in the Meole Brace area on Monday evening. He remains in a critical condition in hospital.
A building has been evacuated after a car crashed into a home in Newport., external
Fire crews were called to the scene at Buttercross Court in Stafford Street at 11:20 this morning.
No one was trapped in the car and crews are making the area safe. A structural engineer is also at the scene.

We've been following the story of five-year-old Harry Maceachen from Shrewsbury who, back in March, had his second liver transplant, after his original one failed.
His dad donated part of his own liver to save Harry's life.
At the weekend, Harry and his dad Simon took part in the Transplant Games. And look who took gold in the 25m dash.

A Telford man was caught throwing £12,000 worth of drugs out of his bedroom window, external as police arrived to raid his house.

Plans to close a 'rat run' in Shrewsbury have been approved by Shropshire Council's central planning committee., external
Racecourse Lane which runs between Welshpool Road and Mytton Oak Road to the west of Shrewsbury will be blocked just south of Lambourn Drive and a turning head will be created.
A report to councillors said support for the plans among those who live and work on Racecourse Lane was "strong".
Dozens of workers in Telford are having to look for another job, with the closure of the town's BHS store today.
The company, sold for £1 by Sir Philip Green, went into administration three months ago.
The Telford Shopping Centre's looking for a new tenant and says it's talking to several retailers.

And now one of the original Lady Penelope puppets has arrived in Whitchurch to be auctioned at Trevanion and Dean later this month.
She's expected to fetch between £15,000 and £20,000.
A 21-year-old Telford man who was previously convicted of rape has been sent back to prison, external for committing sexual offences with a child while he was on bail.
