  19. Your comments: Out of town supermarkets divide opinionpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

With councillors due to discuss plans for a new out-of-town supermarket in Ludlow this week, we've been asking whether you think they are are good thing.

Pauline Hughes wrote on our Facebook page, external: "Not many people can afford to shop in the town centre, so I don't think a supermarket out of town will affect trade. Those that can afford to shop in town will still do so."

Mandy Owen agreed: "We def need another supermarket. Ludlow shops have gone very up-market. Can't always park in town, so yes let's have the new store."

But, Ian Wells ran the Emporos shop in Ludlow town centre for 13 years before it was forced to close - and he partly blames competition from supermarkets, saying: "There's bargains, two-for-ones, these things that make people think it's worth going that distance."
