    A four-year-old boy from Telford has been praised for calling the police after his mum collapsed at home.

    Jacob Onions from Arleston told the police call-handler "Mummy is asleep and she won't get up." and then continued: "Mummy is on the floor. Mummy has hurt herself. She isn't talking."

    The call was then traced to their house and the emergency services were sent to her aid.

    Jacob's mum Gemma, has been undergoing tests for a mystery illness and said she had told her children to call 999 if she collapsed.

    She described him as "an extraordinary little boy".

  12. Police call-handler admits to tears after call from four-year-oldpublished at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2017

    The call handler who spoke to four-year-old Jacob Onions from Arleston when his mum collapsed says it was one of those "calls that can get to you" and that she shed a couple of tears afterwards.

    Kelly Morgan spoke to Jacob for 13 minutes while she was establishing what had happened and finding out where he was.

    Ms Morgan described it as a "difficult call" but added that Jacob had been "amazing".

    Efforts to stop flooding in Prees are due to get under way at the end of the month. 

    Severn Trent is spending £150,000 on replacing a 500m section of water-main that's burst several times in the past five years.

    There's fire safety event in Broseley today, following the death of an elderly man in a house fire at the weekend.

    The blaze, on Benthall Lane on Saturday afternoon, isn't thought to have been suspicious. 

    Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service will be outside Broseley Library until 16:00.

  19. Third Oswestry 'hill fort hug' plannedpublished at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2017

    There are plans to create a human chain encircling Oswestry's Iron Age hill fort, next month.

    It will be the third time the Hands Off Old Oswestry Hill fort community group have organised the 1km chain, which is expected to need around 650 people.

    The aim is to show public support for the monument and oppose the idea of building homes nearby.

    The hill fort hug is due to take place on 12 February.

    A van's ended up in a field next to the M54 after crashing between Shifnal and Albrighton. 

    The driver in his 40s had to be cut free by fire crews and was treated for neck pain and a knee injury before being taken to hospital.
