    The New Saints are out of the Irn-Bru Cup, losing 4-1 to St Mirren in yesterday's semi-final.

    The lesbian gay bisexual and transgender history festival, external took place in Shrewsbury over the weekend.

    Many people from across the county came to learn about the history of the LGBT community through a series of lectures, presentations and talks.

    One of the many stories to be told was one of forbidden love between two men during World War Two...

    "I don't want to talk about it" but I will... Rod Stewart is coming to Shrewsbury this summer. 

    Some may think he's "sexy" and has "hot legs", but well, I think he just "wears it well".

    The croaky voiced singer will swagger into the town with his "handbag" of hits, wearing his "gladrags". 

    So "sail away" until Friday - as that's when his tickets go on sale. "Tonight is the night" - well 7 June is - as he's "got something to say to you" - mainly just through the power of song though.

    Throughout March he's going to be headlining at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, before he starts a US tour in July and August, obviously after visiting Shrewsbury.

    Restoration experts are to remove ancient bells from a 12th Century church in Shropshire for important conservation work to be carried out on them.

    The bells will be seen for the first time in centuries as they are lifted down from the bellcote of the 800-year-old Myndtown Church, external near Bishops Castle. 

    The church recently received more than £200,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to preserve the building, which is classed as being at risk.

    Investigations continue after a woman was sexually assaulted in a car park at the weekend.

    The victim, in her 50s, was attacked in the car park of the Falcon pub, off St John's Street in Bridgnorth, at around 02:25.

    The force is appealing for information and witnesses are urged to come forward.  

  8. Rod Stewart to play Shrewsbury concertpublished at 08:38 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2017

    Sir Rod Stewart will be playing a concert at Shrewsbury Town's stadium on 7 June.

    It's one of two warm-up gigs he's performing before headlining the Isle of Wight festival on 11 June, the other being in Durham.

    He's promising to play a selection of his hits, including Maggie May, Baby Jane, I Don't Want To Talk About It, and Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, along with some new songs.

    Tickets go on sale on Friday.
