    AFC Telford United haven't won away in the league since October, but their home form has been a lot better - they've collected three wins, a draw and only one defeat at the Bucks Head since the start of 2017.

    And three days after seeing off Altrincham, the Bucks turn their attention to beating Brackley tomorrow night.

    Telford Tigers might have wrapped up the league title early, but their head coach, Tom Watkins, insists there is still plenty to play for this season.

    They travel to face Sheffield Steeldogs on Saturday, before hosting Guildford Flames at the Telford Ice Rink on Sunday and are still looking to continue their 12-game winning run.

    Watkins says players will also be chasing down personal achievements, with Canadian forward, Doug Clarkson, hoping to score his 50th goal and some of the younger players looking to force their way into the team for the end-of-season playoffs.

  6. Oswestry woman says community stood up to kidnapperspublished at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2017

    An Oswestry woman who has been given a High Sheriff's award for standing up to kidnappers in the town says she wasn't alone, because the community rallied around to help.

    Loraine Duncan parked her car across the road to stop the gang from escaping in March last year said she "wasn't the bravest of people there" because there were other passers-by confronting the men in the street.

    She said she was advised by the police to stay inside her car and refused to move her vehicle when two of the kidnappers came over and threatened her, telling her to get out of their way.

    Mrs Duncan said she was "very proud" to get the bravery award, but she hoped that if her family was in trouble, "someone would step in and help".

  7. Bravery award for Oswestry woman who stood up to kidnapping gang published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2017

    An Oswestry woman has received a bravery award for helping thwart a kidnapping attempt in the town last March.

    Loraine Duncan said a car in front of her pulled up suddenly and she "saw this poor lady being manhandled" by three men who were trying to put her into their car.

    She decided to park her car across the road to stop them getting away.

    Mrs Duncan said it was "just a natural response" and she didn't have time to think about her actions, because it "all happened very quickly".

    Her actions and the actions of other passers-by delayed the three men, who were later caught and jailed.

    A Telford company which sells medical equipment has donated a pallet-load of supplies to Syria.

    SP Services said it was reacting to an appeal by the charity One Nation, and the aid includes wound dressings, syringes, needles, oxygen masks, sterile dressings for burns and sterile gloves.

    The aid is being sent to Aleppo.

    A 51-year-old Shrewsbury man has gone on trial accused of making threats to kill. 

    It follows an incident last summer when a woman was approached by a man in the Sutton Road area of the town.

    Stafford Crown Court

    Darren O'Callaghan, from Gains Avenue, is charged with threatening someone with a blade, committing an offence with the intention of committing a relevant sexual offence and breaking bail conditions. 

    The trial at Stafford Crown Court is expected to last three days. 

  10. Work on DIY SOS project coming to a conclusionpublished at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2017

    The volunteers working on DIY SOS's project in Telford have until Thursday to complete their work.

    The TV show is remodelling 12-year-old Matthew Cooper's house in Trench. 

    He spent more than a year in hospital fighting a brain tumour and he can't go back to his family home unless its adapted to his needs.

    Canada has gone mad for a Bridgnorth couple who decided to tie the knot in Ottawa last month.

    Alice Stanley and Roy Hamilton are both big ice hockey fans and trained referees - they thought that by going abroad they might have a quiet ceremony on a frozen canal.

    But, the Canadian media had other ideas...

  15. NSPCC has concerns about police response to sextingpublished at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2017

    The NSPCC has urged the police not to come down heavily on children caught sharing indecent images of themselves through their smartphones, saying "children should not be unnecessarily criminalised".

    The children's charity is also saying that young people need to be educated about the risks associated with "sexting", and that they must be made to realise they can talk to adults if they need to.

    Figures from West Mercia Police show that 44 young people in Shropshire were investigated for sexting last year.

    An 18th Century, Grade II listed, former windmill near Hortonwood, which was saved from being a derelict ruin, has gone on the market.

    It has been converted into a five bedroom house and it still contains some of the original cogs and a crank wheel. It has an asking price of just under £700,000 - that's a lot of bags of flour.

    She was performing in a duo called Capital B and failed to win enough votes to go through to the next round.
