  5. Telford GPs to stop prescribing medicine for minor conditions published at 17:55 British Summer Time 31 March 2017

GP's in Telford will no longer be prescribing medicine that can be bought easily "over the counter" at shops and supermarkets from tomorrow.

The Telford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said it often costs the NHS more to buy these medicines than it costs patients and that the money would be better spent on treatments for more serious illnesses.

The CCG also said the move would encourage patients to manage some conditions themselves and allow GPs to spend more time with other patients.
