    Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Hurst wants goalkeeper Callum Burton to prove that he's good enough to become a regular first-teamer. 

    The 20-year-old, who's recently been on loan at AFC Telford United, has risen in the pecking order after the release of Mark Halstead.

    The manager is looking to bring in someone else more established, but wants Burton to be ready for any opportunity that might come his way.

  2. Charity wants to help veterans with drinking problemspublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 15 May 2017

    The Newport-based charity Combat Stress, external, which helps veterans with mental health issues, says people with alcohol addictions are putting off seeking help until their 60s. 

    It's calling for more to be done to help people who've served in the armed forces recognise the underlying reasons behind drinking problems and seek help earlier.

    Pupils from Lawley Primary School in Telford have had a weekend they'll never forget.

    The school's under-11 team played at Wembley Stadium in the National League Trust, external six-a-side tournament yesterday.

    They didn't come away with the trophy, and the boys say the quality of the other teams was really high. 

    However, they all enjoyed the occasion, which was played ahead of the National League play-off final, won by Forest Green Rovers yesterday.

    The Town have added the two home fixtures against Championship opposition to a programme that already includes another home game against Aston Villa.

    The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital near Oswestry is said to be unaffected by the global cyber-attack.

    Shropshire's Clinical Commissioning Group, which manages health services in the county, says staff are "working normally" there today.

    The South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, which runs mental health and learning disability services, was affected, external by the worldwide cyber-attack on Friday.

    Workers say they couldn't access computer records or landline phones, which use internet access.

    The trust says it's now in the process of bringing services back to normal.

  9. Shropshire's clinical systems now 'fine' following cyber-attackpublished at 09:55 British Summer Time 15 May 2017

    As health services and businesses recover from a major cyber-attack, the situation at our hospitals is becoming clearer this morning. 

    Malicious software has affected computer programmes around the world since Friday, although some services are now back to normal.

    Dr Julian Povey, from Shropshire's Clinical Commissioning Group says Telford's Princess Royal and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital were among those targeted by the hackers.

    Patients are being advised to attend appointments as planned, unless told otherwise.

    A charity which helps women with cancer feel attractive is holding a recruitment day at the hospital in Shrewsbury.

    Look Good Feel Better hosts two-hour workshops for patients which teach them how to do their makeup and deal with the side effects of treatment.

    They're looking for volunteers with a background in beauty and they're offering coffee and information on how to help between 13:00 and 14:30.

    Ioan Jones, Shrewsbury's mayor, hands back his robes and chain today, after a year in the job. 

    For the past 12 months the town councillor has combined his mayoral duties with volunteering work and his part-time job as a cleaner at Shrewsbury Fire station.

    He said it's been "an honour".

    The new rector of Ludlow will be licensed today. 

    The Reverend Kelvin Price takes formal charge of an area of Shropshire which includes one of the county's most historically important churches, St Laurence's. 

    Reverend Price was ordained following a career in the army, and has been a priest in the Hereford diocese since 2010.
