    Billington's is celebrating 200 years of making gingerbread in Market Drayton today.

    To mark the occasion the biscuits are being re-designed.

    Gingerbread is thought to have arrived in England with the Crusades, with the earliest recipe dating from 1390.

    Baking came to Market Drayton 400 years later.

    A Shropshire care home now in special measures says it has been "carrying out a comprehensive programme of improvements" since an inspection in April.

    The overall rating for Meadowbrook Care Home in Gobowen was inadequate, the Care Quality Commission, external (CQC) says.

    The home said it had reviewed staffing and "adjusted how staff are deployed" so there "are always sufficient staff on duty to meet the needs of residents in a timely way".

    It was "supporting staff with enhanced training in our policies and procedures" to maintain quality of care, it added.

    The home said the CQC inspectors' report was critical of a lack of management leadership and support and it had "since put in place a new management structure".

    It said it had been working "in close liaison" with the CQC and Shropshire council.

    The home said: "We are sorry that Meadowbrook Care Home has fallen well below the standards that we expect all of our homes to provide."

    The AFC Telford United management team of Rob Smith and Larry Chambers have left the club.

    Club chairman Ian Dosser has also gone.

    The BBC understands significant new investment is coming into the club.

    However, this isn't a takeover and nothing will change with regards the current share structure or the name of the club.

    We'll have more later.

    The EFL, external says it's welcomed Shrewsbury Town's application to become the first EFL club to introduce so-called rail seating before the end of the coming season.

    The club aims to have 500 rail seats fitted and in use in a section of the Salop Leisure stand.

    EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "This is an important step on the journey towards our stated aim of seeing standing in stadiums across the EFL and I wish Shrewsbury Town every success in reaching their crowdfunding target to support their application.

    "The installation of standing accommodation will be popular with the club's fans and, more widely, will prove a valuable opportunity to assess the use of this form of accommodation at an English football ground."

    Staff "felt stressed" and morale "was low" at a Shropshire care home now in special measures, the Care Quality Commission, external (CQC) says.

    Meadowbrook Care Home in Gobowen, which was inspected in April, was rated as inadequate overall.

    The CQC said there were "not enough suitably trained staff deployed to meet people's needs in a timely and person centred manner".

    The home faces another inspection in six months.

    Investigations into baby deaths at Shropshire's main hospitals are having an effect on midwife sickness levels, according to the boss of the hospital trust.

    Health Secertary Jeremy Hunt ordered a review of maternity services in Shropshire in April, after BBC News learned of several avoidable deaths over just two years.

    Staff sickness over the last six months has led to a string of temporary closures at midwife-led units in Ludlow, Oswestry and Bridgnorth.

    A report is due to be published tomorrow into how maternity problems are investigated. Yesterday's internal staff briefing on the report was disrupted by protesters.

    Joe Murphy has taken up the post after being at Worcester City since 2009 and he has also had spells with Solihull Moors and Solihull Borough.

    The club says Murphy will "oversee all first team football related activity within the club".

    A north Shropshire care home is in special measures after being rated as inadequate by inspectors.

    The Care Quality Commission says Meadowbrook in Gobowen is neither caring nor well-led and struggles to recruit and keep staff.

    Inspectors found that some residents were not getting their breakfasts until late morning, with others ignored for most of the day.

    Ants were found on a dining table and residents had been left in soiled clothes and bedding.

    The home will remain open, but faces another inspection in six months.

    A dog trainer is due to be sentenced today after he admitted allowing his two dogs to kill and injure dozens of lambs on a Herefordshire farm.

    The two dogs killed 35 lambs at a farm in Risbury, near Leominster, in September. Another 20 lambs were so badly injured they had to be put down.

    Charles Ross-Robertson, from Stanton Lacy, Ludlow is due to be sentenced at Hereford Magistrates' Court later, where he is also expected to contest an order for the destruction of the dogs.
