Work is being carried out to clear an area of wetland at the Severn Valley Country Park and make it a better habitat for birds and other wildlife.
Park ranger Edward Andrews said they'd waited until the end of the nesting season to clear reeds which were covering the pool, but now the diggers have gone in.
Mr Andrews said the water had been "choked full of weeds" and they wanted to create some clear areas of water, while keeping an area of weeds on one side.
The work is being funded by money Tesco collects from selling plastic bags.
Quote MessageWe've had various waders and wildfowl on here over the years and we're hoping that with this work it will again become a really rich area for birds and a great area for people to come and observe our bird-life."

The decision of the Labour Party to only consider women as their candidate for the Telford constituency has raised a few eyebrows on BBC Radio Shropshire's Facebook page, external.
Darran Dorsett wrote: "I can't believe this! What happened to choosing the best candidate for the post?"
And Daniel Jones added: "Can you imagine the uproar if it was declared only males could run to be the next Labour candidate."
But Jayne McDermott backed the decision, saying: "It's called positive discrimination. It's necessary because whilst there are more women than men, we are woefully under represented in parliament."
A civic reception is being held in Telford this afternoon, for workmen who volunteered for the BBC's DIY SOS programme when it came to the town earlier in the year.

There could be room for compromise over the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner's plans to take over fire authorities in Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
The chair of Shropshire's fire authority, Eric Carter, said this morning: "I don't want to fall out with John Campion on this." He says he is prepared to look again at the way the fire service is governed and that further savings might be possible.
But Mr Carter drew the line at the PCC taking control, saying he didn't think it was right the fire services were run by "one person sitting in a remote office in Worcester".
The Police and Crime Commissioner repeated his argument that opposition to the merger was coming from fire authority members worried about losing their jobs, but Mr Carter hit back by saying "I've got a job wider than being chair of the fire authority, I've served as a councillor for this borough for 26 years".
And he countered a PCC poll, which came out in favour of the merger, by pointing out a similar poll in the Shropshire Star came out strongly against the merger.
He also hinted that Mr Campion could be made a voting member of fire authorities - at the moment he sits on them as a non-voting member.

Shrewsbury Town winger Alex Rodman says there is no chance of the players getting over-confident, because the management team won't let them.

Rodman also said there was a "fantastic team spirit and togetherness" which was helping them get results.
Quote MessageThey'll be bringing us straight back down to earth if we ever get over-confident so we'll just stick to doing what we are doing, which is working really well at the moment."
