    As people digest the news that Sheffield central library could become a five-star hotel, the council has been explaining the wider plan.

    That plan sees major investment in the city and more trade deals between Sheffield and China.

    Sheffield's Nick Matthew OBE says getting an honorary doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University is an "absolute honour".

    New research by BBC Yorkshire shows we are missing out on billions of pounds of investment to improve key developments like our roads, rails and internet connections. 

    The figures reveal that the North West is earmarked to get three and half times more money than Yorkshire to spend on infrastructure.

    Sheffield's Central Library could make way for a hotel development. A Chinese businessman wants to take over the library to create a 5 star hotel - as part of a £1 billion deal between his company and the city. 

    The library was donated to the city 150 years ago and is housed in the Graves building, which also house the Graves Art Gallery.

    Under the plan the library would move elsewhere but the art gallery would remain.

    The project is in its early stages and comes as part of a wider plan to that would also see a £30 million apartment block to be built in West Bar, a new school to be built by a Sheffield architecture firm in the Chinese city of Chengdu, as well as trade deals with other Chinese cities.

    In July this year, Sheffield City Council unveiled a deal with the owner of the Sichuan Goudong Construction Group  for £1 billion - with £220 million to be spent in the first three years.

    BBC Radio Sheffield understands that Chesterfield have now secured the £200,000 needed to keep the club going for a further month. 

    Sources have told us that they are optimistic that a deal can be done to save the club. 

    Meanwhile on the field, Chesterfield, external will be looking to keep the MK Dons within touching distance when the pair meet in League One later.

    An effort to catch criminals around South Yorkshire is now in full-swing.

    It's called Operation Trivium, external and police are publicising what they're doing on social media as part of the campaign.

    A similar exercise last year saw more than 500 vehicles being seized.

    AFC Unity, external is a football club in Sheffield that wants to make a difference off the pitch as well as on it. 

    They're doing pretty well and winning lots of awards too - last month they became the first South Yorkshire team to win Sport England's Satellite Club of the Year. 

    They're up Up for a Voluntary Action Sheffield award this week in the Make A Difference categeory.

    The club says it has a clear aim; ethics and fairness combined with their passion for the sport to make a positive contribution in the local community

    Churches and mosques in Sheffield have come together to raise money for Syria.

    It's part of wider inter-faith activities that are happening in the city.

    The Families Relief charity, external has a storage unit at Meadowhall Business Park.

    It says its primary role is to support family units as well as individuals, by helping them to build a sustainable future. 

    I've been along to see what's been collected.

    A sculpture to commemorate the 361 people killed in England’s worst pit disaster is set to be unveiled in next May.

    Many of the miners and rescuers killed in the explosion at the Oaks Colliery near Stairfoot in Barnsley on 12 December 1866, were never recovered. 

    Sculptor Graham Ibbeson had ancestors who were killed in the explosion.

    Events are planned to mark the 150th anniversary, external of the disaster.

    Hathersage saw cars being covered with water last night during the torrential rain.

    The fire service and others were called to rescue people who became stranded on School Road.
