    There are reports of local flooding as drains struggle to cope with the heavy rain. 

    The Streets Ahead team in Sheffield, external has highlighted problems on Main Road in Darnall, Abbeydale Road South near to Dore train station, Shalesmoor and Main Road in Stocksbridge.

    Police have released a photo of a man they want to speak with in connection with the attempted fraud of a pensioner in Barnsley.

    It's after a man attended the 84-year-old's home last month and demanded money for bogus building work.

    He left empty handed, however officers believe this may have been a targeted attack.

    Inmates who took part in a disturbance at HMP Moorland will be punished and could spend longer behind bars, according to the Prison Service.

    Forty prisoners were involved in rioting yesterday, in which two were injured and 15 cells were trashed.

    The facility's expected to return to normal this afternoon.

  9. Former prison officer praises bravery of staff at Doncaster jailpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2016

    A retired prison officer has told BBC Radio Sheffield that staff at HMP Moorland have "hearts of lions", following a riot at the jail yesterday.

    Around forty prisoners were involved in the disturbance, in which 15 cells were damaged.

    Two inmates were injured during the riot, while 30 have been moved to other prisons.

    A scheme to transform the city’s former inner ring road into series of sustainable meadows and public art has celebrated its fifth award of the year.

    Grey To Green won the National Green Champion Award, Construction, category at a ceremony held at the Houses of Parliament earlier this month.

    The project's already won two Yorkshire in Bloom awards, the Gold Standard and Best Environmental project in Yorkshire 2016 and a brace of Sheffield Design Awards, for Best Open Space and Overall Outstanding Project Award 2016.

    A 92-year-old man's been seriously injured after his mobility scooter crashed with a bus near Doncaster town centre.

    It happened just after 10:30 on Saturday outside St James Church.

    The single decker was travelling along St Sepulchre Gate West towards Hexthorpe, at the same time the elderly man was driving a mobility scooter on the pavement.

    He was immediately taken to hospital.

    A drug user from Crosspool who strangled his grandmother and drowned his aunt in a bath, has been jailed for life.

    Christopher Whelan of Dransfield Road was sentenced to a minimum of 15-years behind bars at Nottingham Crown Court, after admitting manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at an earlier hearing.

    The 21-year-old went to the Shirebrook home of his 51-year-old aunt, Julie Hill, in February and killed her along with his 75-year-old grandmother, Rose Hill, who was visiting the house.     

    Whelan later claimed to have heard Satan directing him during the attacks.

    Police investigating a robbery in the High Green area of the city, have released an e-fit of the man they are trying to trace.

    At around 22:45 on Tuesday November 1st, a man entered a supermarket and threatened workers with what is believed to be a knife.

    He then ran towards the direction of Pack Horse Lane after stealing some cash.
