    A speeding driver who killed another motorist and injured four other people in a crash has been jailed forsix years and four months.

    Grahame Smith, 58, from Doncaster, died on 22 December when his Volvo car was struck by 22-year-old Taiyab Mehmood's Seat Leon in Pitsmoor Road, Sheffield.

    The force of the collision ripped the engine from Mehmood's car and shunted Mr Smith's car off the road.

    Mehmood, of Nottingham Street, admitted causing death by dangerous driving.

    Mr Smith's partner Gillian Heptinstall, 57, and a 66-year-old man who were passengers in the Volvo both suffered serious injuries.

    Ms Heptinstall suffered a serious brain injury, fractured elbow, broken arm and fingers and fractured ribs.

    Two men - aged 19 and 20 - who were in Mehmood's car were also injured.

    Three men have been arrested over an online video apparently showing trespassers in a hangar at Robin Hood Airport. 

    The men, all aged 19, are being questioned on suspicion of endangering the safety of an aircraft. It follows an incident in a hangar at the airport near Doncaster last month. 

    A video was posted on YouTube but has since been removed.

    Here's the scene at Sheffield Town Hall, where it's standing room only tonight. 

    You might remember a couple of weeks ago we told you about the council's idea to turn the city's central library into a five-star hotel. 

    This evening is the first chance people have had to tell the council what they think. 

    They're expecting so many people to turn up, they've had to put another meeting on next week.

    About 170 people are expected at a meeting about the future of the Graves Building and Sheffield Central Library later. 

    Last month, Sheffield City Council announced the building could be leased by a Chinese Investor to create a luxury hotel.

  9. Sheffield man jailed for six years after shooting teenagerpublished at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    A man who shot a teenager has been jailed for six years.

    Nathan Marples, 25, from Wordsworth Avenue in Parson Cross, left 50 lead pellets in the 19-year-old man's body following an incident at a petrol station in Sheffield back in July.

    The teenager suffered minor wounds to his arm and stomach.  

    Marples was sentenced today at Sheffield Crown Court.

  10. New song raises money for runaway children's charitypublished at 15:52 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    A group of young people that took part in the National Citizenship Service scheme over the summer have written and produced their own song and music video.  

    They want to raise funds for SafeAtLast, external, the South Yorkshire runaway children's charity.

    A 72-year-old man has been jailed for 12 years after being found guilty of 16 historical child sexual offences. 

    Ralph Gwynne, of Willow Close, Rotherham, was sentenced on Friday 2 December at Nottingham Crown Court after being found guilty at a trial in October.

    I'm on West Street, where a tram and a bus are both stationary outside the Tesco Express.

    Two police cars are in attendance and the road is closed after a man was hit by a bus at 13:35 this afternoon.

    The full extent of the man's injuries are not yet known.

    You have been giving us your views , externalof the vintage motorised sleigh ride which used to be based in the Co-op in Sheffield. 

    It was a sleigh experience with moving scenery, which was one of several around the country from the 1950s.

    Coventry Transport Museum try to trace photos, memories and staff who worked on the sleighs.
