    A child's body has been found at a house in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Police say they're currently examining a property and the alleyway behind it on Packett Street in Fenton. Officers were called at 10:00 and are now also carrying out house-to-house enquiries.

    A 19-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident.

    Two MPs who know the pain and trauma of losing a baby are calling for more support for people affected by stillbirth or neonatal death.

    Conservatives Antoinette Sandbach , from Cheshire, and Will Quince will host a Twitter session on Monday as Baby Loss Awareness Week gets under way.

    The pair have also arranged a debate in the House of Commons on Thursday.

    They hope talking about the issue will help stop other parents from "suffering in silence".

  4. Further warnings of clowns across Staffordshire and Cheshirepublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

    It seems we've not seen the last of the clowns in Staffordshire and Cheshire. There are messages on social media suggesting people will be dressing up again tonight.

    Facebook groups like Clown Apocalypse UK is involved in the USA craze and says it's just about people having fun and trying to give people "something to laugh about."

    It says it has clowns walking the streets of Burslem, Cobridge, Tunstall, Chell Heath, Sandyford and Alsager.

    Cheshire Police says it's received a small number of reports of people dressing up as clowns in the county.

    Staffordshire Police have yet to comment.

    A man has been remanded in custody charged with the abduction of a schoolgirl in Staffordshire 15 years ago.

    Arnold Baxter, 72, of Bath Street, Rugby, Warwickshire is accused of kidnap and indecent assault after an incident in Barton-under-Needwood in 2001.

    He is due to appear at Stafford Crown Court on 11 November.

  8. Patients 'bed-blocking' community hospitalspublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

    The North Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Group told us "it can't comment on individual cases but that 90% of patients in community beds don't need to be there and would be better off being looked after in their own homes". 

    "Every patient leaving a community hospital bed is being offered appropriate alternative care packages," it added in a statement.

    A Stoke-on-Trent pensioner says she hasn't slept in her own bed for three years because she has to care for her 91-year-old mother. 

    Theresa Brough from Lightwood looks after her mum Annie, who is housebound following a series of falls.

    She says the closure of community hospital beds in north Staffordshire will cause chaos at A&E departments this winter.

    Dozens of beds have closed across the area, with more planned, as health bosses transfer funding to care in the home instead.

    Crewe fought back from a goal down to earn a deserved point at fellow promotion hopefuls Luton.

    Cameron McGeehan tested Ben Garratt from distance midway through the first period before Luton went ahead just before half-time when Pelly Ruddock released Jake Gray and his volley was turned home by Danny Hylton.  

    The visitors were deservedly level in the 64th minute when Cooper's exquisite cross was headed beyond Walton by Alex's top scorer Ryan Lowe.

    UKIP leadership contender Steven Woolfe has been discharged from a hospital in Strasbourg after collapsing following an altercation at a party meeting.

    Mr Woolfe left hospital on Sunday morning, with a UKIP spokesman saying he was now "focused on continuing his recovery".

    The MEP for North West England, including Cheshire, was taken to hospital on Thursday after an altercation at a meeting of UKIP MEPs at the European Parliament.

    The fracas is being investigated both by the party and the parliament.

    The West Midlands MEP Bill Etheridge has announced he will stand for the UKIP leadership again. 

    One of the favourites, Stephen Woolfe, has now been discharged from hospital after an altercation with a fellow UKIP MEP in Strasbourg. 

    With question marks being raised over whether Mr Woolfe can continue to seek the party leadership, Mr Etheridge says he can "no longer" support his campaign and will now run himself.
