Sunderland 0-2 Stoke
If Sunderland are going to get back into this game they need to find a way of feeding top-scorer Jermain Defoe inside the Stoke area. The former England striker has only touched the ball five times so far, and three of those were from a kick-off.
Contrast Defoe's touch-map (l) with that with of Stoke's two-goal hero Marko Arnautovic (r) who has been working hard down the left and seeing plenty of the ball inside and outside the box, as well as finding the net twice.
Sunderland 0-1 Stoke
Sunderland are a goal down and not exactly looking like getting back into the game. With 20 minutes played, they are yet to have a shot at the Stoke goal, or touch the ball in the Stoke area.
Sunderland v Stoke City (15:00 GMT)
Just the one change for Sunderland as John O'Shea comes back in to replace Javier Manquillo.
Sunderland XI: Mannone, Love, O’Shea, Djilobodji, van Aanholt, Denayer, Rodwell, Larsson, Borini, Januzaj, Defoe.
Stoke boss Mark Hughes makes three changes as Glenn Whelan, Charlie Adam and Joe Allen return to the side. Bojan, Giannelli Imbula and Ibrahim Afellay miss out.
Stoke XI: Grant, Johnson, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters, Whelan, Adam, Shaqiri, Allen, Arnautovic, Crouch.
Albion's Berahino to Stoke?
No transfer window would be complete without a Saido Berahino will-he-won't-he-leave saga.
Berahino will be leaving - to Stoke - if Mark Hughes has anything to do with it.
"We are interested in him, as a number of other clubs are," says the Potters boss. "I am hopeful we will be able to get something done."
Stoke bid for the 23-year-old in the summer, while the Baggies made a third contract offer last month.
Berahino has not played for the first team since 10 September and was sent to a conditioning camp in France to help him lose weight and regain fitness.

The Stoke City manager Mark Hughes says he is "hopeful" of completing a deal for West Brom striker Saido Berahino.
The Potters bid for the 23-year-old in the summer, while the Baggies made a third contract offer last month.
Berahino has not played for the first team since 10 September and was sent to a conditioning camp in France to help him lose weight and regain fitness.
Quote MessageIt's fair to say that we have been looking for a striker who can score 20 plus goals for some time now. They are a little bit scarce on the ground and you have to work hard to get them over the line."
