    Parts of the scene of a huge fire at a recycling plant in Stoke-on-Trent keep bursting into fire again, four days after the blaze started.

    Yesterday, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the Hanbury Plastics fire, which began on Sunday, was started deliberately. 

    This morning, they say their crews are still at the site and, overnight, some of the hotspots inside the building,, external which contained recycled plastics, kept "flaring up".

    A crash involving a motorbike has closed a road in Lichfield this morning. 

    Staffordshire Police say the A5192 Eastern Avenue's been shut both ways between Dimbles Lane and the A51 Western By-Pass. 

    They say the air ambulance has been called in.

    The supermarket retailer Waitrose has announced its store in Leek is set to close by the end of the year, with 121 job losses, less than three years after opening. 

    The branch says it's found trading on the Buxton Road site "extremely challenging".

    Leek's main post office is housed within the Waitrose store but the retailer says it'll remain open until the post office finds a new site. 

    It says the closure is subject to it consulting with its employees and it won't happen before autumn this year.

    A Turkish man has been racially and homophobically abused , externalwhile shopping with a friend in the centre of Stoke-on-Trent.

    Staffordshire Police say it happened after they were followed into a health shop on Town Road, Hanley on 25 January, which they say left both men shocked. 

    Officers say they want to speak to a stocky man with a Liverpudlian accent who was wearing a double-breasted suit overcoat.

  11. Stafford Shire Hall set for 'temporary' closure from this summerpublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2017

    Plans for the long-term future of the Shire Hall in Stafford still haven't been revealed, external despite proposals to close it this summer.

    The county council says it has to make "difficult" budget decisions, in order to pay a predicted £300m bill next year for services such as elderly care.

    Proposals for the future of the Shire Hall have been drawn up for the authority's cabinet meeting later this month. 

    They talk of "temporarily decommissioning" the building this summer when the University of Wolverhampton closes its outpost there this summer. 

    The council's report then talks at that point of a "once in a generation" chance to review its long-term future, without revealing what that would be.

    A fire that destroyed a recycling plant in Stoke-on-Trent was arson,, external the fire service has said this afternoon. 

    Sunday's blaze in Milton centred on a building containing recycled plastics at Hanbury Plastics Recycling (Stoke) Ltd on Redhills Road.

    At its height, 53 firefighters were on the site tackling the blaze but Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service say they're now scaled down to two fire engines. 

    A joint investigation with the police has now concluded it was started deliberately.
