    The 56-day driving ban imposed on Lakenheath 21-year-old Louie Howlett for driving at 154mph (248km/h) on the A11 has prompted a huge reaction from you, thank you for all your comments.

    What on earth could the magistrate have been thinking to give the driver from Lakenheath a mere 56 day ban for the eye-watering speed of 154 mph that he reached on the A11. 

    We are blessed that this story is not about the tragedy of one of more deaths due to an accident, which at that speed would have been catastrophic. I am outraged.

    Suffolk's police and crime commissioner Tim Passmore said the ruling was a "slap on the wrist" and that he would be addressing why magistrates can only impose a maximum 56-day ban with the Sentencing Council.

    Supporters have been purring over the 21-year-old's stunning effort against Burnley since he arrived at Portman Road on Monday.

    "Every now and again I do pull a 'worldy' out of the bag, but I just try to score however it happens. If I score 10 tap-ins I'd be happy with that," he said.

    Ipswich Town's, external latest signing sounds like he's someone the Portman Road faithful are going to take to.

    Midfielder Grant Ward, who joined Town from Tottenham on Monday, has been telling BBC Suffolk about his style of play.

    "I can play in a variety of positions, in the centre or on the wing," said Ward. "I'm very quick, athletic, box-to-box and like to take people on. I don’t mind where I play as long as I'm getting the ball."

    Evolution rather than revolution seems to be the message from Suffolk's new skipper Adam Mansfield.

    The 24-year-old will replace Tom Huggins for the final game of the Minor Counties Championship season away to Buckinghamshire.

    "We've had the same team for most of the season and we all know how to go about our business," said Mansfield. 

    "All I would ask for is 100% effort and a bit of dedication."

    The emu which went on a 10-mile jaunt around Suffolk today is a "bit of a handful" but is safe and sound, says the woman who managed to herd it into a stable.

    The emu went missing before 07:00 today from the home of Bernard King in Whepstead and was found in Glemsford just before midday.

    Julia Monk, who retrieved the bird from a country road into her garden, said: "We managed to herd it into our yard and we've now got it into a stable It's tucking itself into some horse feed... the thing is a bit of a handful."

    The emu and Mr King were reunited this afternoon.

    "I've found that trying to race as much as I can, while also running my own business, has proved too much and rather than recovering fully from my bout of pneumonia I keep having setbacks and falling ill.

    "After speaking to my family we've decided that, for the remainder of this season or until I am fully recovered, I will take a step back to allow my body to properly recover."

    We've been discussing the delay in the announcement as to who will run the rail service currently operated across the East region by Abellio Greater Anglia.

    department for transport, external spokeman (DfT) said: "We continue to consider the bids and will announce the new operator in due course." 

    The DfT also re-confirmed what the government is looking for from those bidding for the franchise.

    "We have been clear that as a minimum they must provide a modern service with state of the art trains, introduce at least two 90-minute services each way between London and Norwich. In addition they must invest heavily in improving stations."

    A new contract is due to take effect from October.

    A railway magazine says it understands a contender in the rail bidding franchise has been involved in talks with the government, which still has to decide which company will take over the franchise in October. The decision was supposed to have been made in June.

    Tony Miles from Modern Railway magazine, external says Abellio Greater Anglia may have been put off with the pound collapsing after the Brexit vote. The magazine understands the rail company asked to discuss things again as the sums didn't add up any more.

    "As we understand it, there's a standstill while they look at the numbers, work out whether it's still possible to award it as planned or whether there needs to be be a complete re-look at the whole bidding process," he said.

    The company awarded the franchise will be responsible for services on the main Norwich to London line through Suffolk and Essex, among others.

    A one-year-old male emu which went missing from Whepstead is thought to have been found nearly 10 miles down the road at Glemsford.

    Owner Bernard King is on the way to pick up his missing emu - which does not have a name - from Julia Monk, who herded it into a stable after it visited her Glemsford garden.

    Mr King, who owns six emus in total, said: "I will just be glad and relieved to get him home".

    He plans pick up the bird this afternoon.

    Parker has confirmed he'll sit out the rest of the 2016 season as he attempts to fully recover from pneumonia.

    "Pneumonia takes some time to get over and I feel Rob has made the right decision," said Jolly. "His health must come first.

    "We wish him all the best and I thank him for his efforts earlier in the season and look forward to him paying us a visit soon."

    The pair have signed deals for the remainder of this season, and will start 2017 in the Fen Tigers reserve berths.

    Suffolk have confirmed that Adam Mansfield will captain the side for their final game of the Minor Counties Championship season.

    The 24-year-old wicket-keeper, from Sudbury, succeeds Tom Huggins whose work commitments mean he's no longer able to play three-day matches for the county.

    Mansfield will take charge for the trip to Buckinghamshire a week on Sunday. He said: "It's a massive job and a massive honour. It's going to be hard to follow Tom as he's a super player and a good captain."

    BHS will shut its doors for the final time in Ipswich at the end of today, with the Lowestoft store expected to close at the weekend. 

    The company went into administration in April, with the loss of 11,000 jobs across the country.

    Customers of the Ipswich store have told BBC Suffolk how much they will miss the shop. 

    Yesterday Lady Barbara Judge, the former chairman of the Pension Protection Fund, has called on ex-BHS owner Sir Philip Green to compensate the company's pensioners.

    A senior road police officer in Norfolk says a 56-day ban for a driver caught doing more than 150mph on the A11 is "inappropriate".

    Louie Howlett, 21, from Lakenheath was clocked at Icklingham, Suffolk, in April and will have to re-apply for his licence before he can drive again. 

    But Insp David Giles, from the Norfolk and Suffolk Serious Collision team, says it could have been deadly adding that at such speeds "people pose a huge risk to themselves and the wider public."
