    We have some more details on the collision which closed part of the A140 earlier.

    The ambulance service says the incident, which occurred at about 12:00 at Mendlesham, led to a man being airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital with serious chest and abdomen injuries.

    Two others were taken to Ipswich Hospital, after the car in which they were travelling was involved in a collision with a lorry.

  2. Police appeal following Clare ram raidpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 12 September 2016

    Police are appealing for information after a cash machine was stolen during a ram raid in Clare at the weekend.

    The incident, in which a JCB was used to remove an ATM from the Co-Operative store on Market Hill, took place at 02:50 yesterday.

    The machine was loaded into the back of a white Ford Sierra pick-up, which drove away in the direction of Ashen Road/Haverhill.

    The cash machine was later found in Nethergate Street.

    Both the JCB and the pick-up truck had been stolen from locations in Essex on Saturday.

    We've just found out the blaze in Burwell was at Stanford Park, a camping and caravan site run by John Stanford.

    He told me about 20 people had to be evacuated from their caravans at about 12:00, when fire took hold in outbuildings and a stable block.

    No-one was hurt and holidaymakers were moved for a couple of hours as a precaution, as the buildings contained gas cylinders.

    Mr Stanford told me his outbuildings had been completely destroyed by the blaze.

    "There must have been about 10 engines here at its height," he said. "But most of them have gone and they're just damping down now."

    "A lot of people say that you're at your prime around now," said Best. "I do feel like I've got a wiser head on my shoulders.

    A fire has broken out at Weirs Drove in Burwell.

    This video has been sent in by Phil Jugg, who told us that there were several fire engines in attendance.

    Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue tells us that it's a "well developed fire, which has spread to nearby trees".

    It said there were more than 30 firefighters on the scene, but that the incident was "under control".

    After being an unused substitute at Reading on Friday, Ipswich Town, external striker Leon Best's hoping to make his debut at Derby County tomorrow.

    The 29-year-old's arrival at Portman Road was met with a mixed response from fans, concerned by his record of just 10 league goals for six clubs over the past four years.

    "Even when I was scoring goals in the Premier League I had doubters," Best said. "You always have doubters but it's yourself you have to convince.

    "It's a matter of not following them, if you hear things a lot you might start to believe them. It's a matter of thinking of the highest standards and striving for that."

    Emergency services are at the scene of a crash on the A140 in Mendlesham, which has blocked the road.

    Police were called at 12:00 to reports of a collision between a car and a lorry.

    Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

    The organisers of the Pigs Gone Wild art trail in Ipswich say Ed Sheeran has promised to sign the sculpture based on the singer, and will dedicate it to whoever successfully bids for it, external.

    The MP for Ipswich says the Cornhill "needs to be somewhere that lives through the day, not just market days".

    Ben Gummer added: "Anyone walking through the Cornhill at six o'clock in the evening, even on a Friday or Saturday evening, will notice that it becomes a dead space, and it often doesn't liven up until the pubs start kicking people out.

    "That isn't what it should be."

    Ipswich Borough Council denies it is going "back to the drawing board" with its plans to revamp the Cornhill, but admits that the final scheme will be "not exactly the same as the scheme we went out to consultation with".

    As the Ipswich Star has reported, external, the council is now sifting through responses to a consultation it held, external earlier this year.

    Plans showed the Cornhill would be levelled, and a sculpture built.

    David Ellesmere, leader of the council, said: "If people were saying 100% yes or no [to the original proposals] that would make our life easy. Unfortunately that's not the case."

    Broke Hall Primary School in Ipswich has finally opened its doors, after the discovery of asbestos earlier this month delayed the start of the school year for a week.

    The asbestos was "disturbed" in the library area. Since then, a number of checks have been carried out to make sure the school is safe.

    Some carpets have been removed, and sheeting has been placed under some skylights.

    It's also meant a large number of books in the library have had to be removed, including reading scheme books which won't be available for the start of term.
