The problem of recruiting staff appears to be getting worse in community hospitals in north and east Suffolk.
The Patrick Stead Hospital, external in Halesworth (pictured) is suspending inpatient admissions from next month, and there are now concerns that staffing at Beccles Hospital, external is also reaching a crisis point.
Conservative county councillor for Halesworth, Tony Goldson, explains: "They are having a problem recruiting staff hence the reason they've transferred the staff at Patrick Stead to Beccles - to fill their gaps.
"We are working very hard to try and make sure we keep these facilities open, because they are not only needed, they are essential for a community like Halesworth."
