You'll be pleased to hear the BBC has measures in place that prevent us accessing such sites from our computers - this is the message I got:

    Error message

However, some of our colleagues used their personal smartphones to check it out.

They said it took them to "pictures or videos of an explicit nature".

I never thought we'd be able to bring you news of a local council asking people to log on to a porn website, but that's exactly what we're doing.

BBC Suffolk presenter Mark Murphy has been contacted by a listener, who'd received a letter from Mid Suffolk District Council, external asking people to either visit a website, or phone them, to confirm who lives at the address so the council can check who is eligible to register to vote.

But to the surprise of that listener, Dave, when he typed in the website address and code, it took him to a pornographic webpage.

We're awaiting a response from the council.

    BBC Local Live

Good morning, and thanks for joining us as we report a story that's certainly raised a few eyebrows in the BBC Suffolk newsroom.

A local council has sent out letters reminding residents to register on the electoral roll, providing a link so people can do it online.

The only problem is - the link takes you to a porn site. We'll bring you more on this as soon as we can.

  7. Government minister rallies support for devolutionpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 27 October 2016

The secretary of state for local government has been visiting Ipswich to try to rally support for the case for more regional government.

Councils in Suffolk are backing the idea, but there's been some opposition in Norfolk.

    Devolution agreement

Sajid Javid, the minister in question, said: "Of course there's a lot the government wants to achieve in terms of passing down more powers, a lot more money to invest in infrastructure, skills, transport, but at the end of the day it's got to be local leaders working with local businesses to decide for themselves if it's something that they want to do."

A devolution deal for Suffolk and Norfolk would allow the release of more government funds for the region.

  15. Solicitor General says the extradition of Lauri Love is a 'matter for the courts'published at 16:04 British Summer Time 27 October 2016

The Solicitor General for England and Wales has spoken in Parliament about the extradition of a Suffolk man to the United States to face charges of hacking into government computer systems

    Lauri Love

Robert Buckland had been asked in the House of Commons by the Labour MP for Huddersfield, Barry Sheerman, to stop the extradition of Lauri Love, who lives in Stradishall.

He replied: "I'm very conscious of that case having a strong interest in autism issues myself.

"I have to emphasise to the honourable gentleman that of course it is a matter for the courts and there has been a court procedure relating to these issues, so I'm loathe to make direct comment about the case, but it's one that I'm certainly following very carefully indeed."

Network Rail area director Steve Hooker says by giving prior notice, it enables the rail operators make it as easy as possible for those with mobility issues to travel, and also to make any arrangements that may be needed.

A Pakenham woman says she's lost for words, after British Gas, which had previously over-charged her mother by nearly £500, sent a goodwill gesture cheque made out to her father, who died five-and-a-half years ago.

Sandy Jackson said: "Words fail me really. The thing is, the cheque was at the bottom of the letter, it's like a tear-off thing.

"The address and name at the top was her name, but at the bottom the cheque was made out to him."

In a statement, British Gas say: "We're very sorry for the second mistake we made when trying to put matters right with.

"In light of our error with the cheque we'll be cancelling it and sending an enhanced goodwill gesture, and contacting her to apologise again."
