As I was driving into work this morning, I heard that we're being asked to record witch markings on Halloween.

They've sent me these images from Thorington Hall, external in Stoke-by-Nayland, which is a NT holiday let.

The first two show "evil averting marks" - deliberate candle marks on the attic ceiling that date from the 17th century, which were painted over in the 1930s before the Hall came to Trust.

"Then this evening and perhaps another couple of nights coming, we'll get some staff down there just to try and test this out.

"Definitely not dismissing it but if somebody knows something has said this, we have to treat it seriously."

  18. People gave street workers money to stop them standing on street cornerspublished at 10:11 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2016

"During the dark times, some people were actually saying look, please go home, take this money.

"I'm not going to ask any questions what you do with it but don't stand here, because it's going to hurt."

    Jade Reynolds

Jade Reynolds says although the policy has worked well, she believes women are beginning to walk the streets again: "They were very successful, it was pretty much eradicated, until this year.

But she added: "I know it happens in Ipswich now, it's still on Norwich Road."
