  1. Ipswich Town owner admits it's been 'a tough season'published at 08:14 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    The owner of Ipswich Town, Marcus Evans, has used tonight's matchday programme, external to admit this is proving to be a "tough season so far", adding: "No excuses, we haven't lived up to our potential with results and on occasions performances being below the standards of the last two seasons."

    He adds that there is "a tremendous spirit" within the squad and management team and says: "We are starting to see the development of a new group of regulars in the first-team line-up, with some excellent scouting resulting in the successful additions this season of Grant Ward and Adam Webster."

    Town, currently 16th in the Championship table, face Bristol City at Portman Road tonight.

    Ipswich, external striker Brett Pitman's denied being frustrated by Town's tendency to play the ball up to him in the air.

    I suggested to the 28-year-old that he'd rather have it delivered to his feet so he can link play and add to the three goals he's already scored this season.

    "Every team would like to play Barcelona style football, but realistically how many teams in the country actually play it? Probably not many.

    "Us strikers would like slightly better service and to have more chances created, but I would say a lot of teams in the country want the same thing. We'll just keep working hard, stick together and hopefully the results will turn around."

    Ipswich Town, external boss Mick McCarthy has told BBC Suffolk Sport he still has the full backing of club owner Marcus Evans.

    Following Monday's disappointing defeat to Fulham there were more calls from fans for McCarthy to be sacked.

    "Well I don't feel under any pressure whatsoever from Marcus, from the club," McCarthy said. 

    "I'm certainly under pressure from the fans...

    "But that's down to us, me and the players, they don't turn up wanting to shout bad things, they turn up wanting to support us. 

    "So it's me and the players that have got to change that."

  10. Ryman League: Needham aiming to end 2016 on a highpublished at 17:20

    Needham Market, external will go nine points clear at the top of the Ryman Premier Division, external if they win at Billericay Town tonight.

    The Marketmen have won six of their last seven fixtures, drawing the other.

    In the North Division Bury Town, external will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run to four games when they entertain Wroxham.

  11. Busy day for traffic collisions for our ambulance servicepublished at 17:14 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2016

    You may remember we flagged up several incidents on the county's roads earlier this morning.

    We contacted the East of England Ambulance Service to try to find out how many collisions they have been called out to.

    They say by 16:00 they'd received 13 calls in relation to road traffic collisions in the county and a total of 61 across the region. Thhey don't record information as to whether icy roads were a factor in any of the calls.

  12. Teenager seriously injured in fail-to-stop collisionpublished at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2016

    A teenager was seriously injured after being hit by a silver or grey BMW car as she was crossing Foxhall Road in Ipswich at about 17:15 on Tuesday.

    The young woman sustained a broken arm and leg injuries, and was taken to Ipswich Hospital.

    The driver briefly stopped at the scene, but left before police arrived and failed to leave their details.

    Police would like to hear from any witnesses, as well as anyone who may have noticed a car matching that description with damage to the front and windscreen.

  13. Stabbing arrest toll reaches eightpublished at 16:55 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2016

    As we reported earlier, an eighth person has been arrested in connection with the double stabbing in Foundation Street, Ipswich.

    Here is a recap of the other arrests: 

    • Two men from Ipswich, aged 48 and 57, were arrested initially arrested on 19 December. They have been bailed until 27 February 2017
    • A 24-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder late on 19 December. He has been bailed to return to police on 2 March 2017
    • On 20 December, two others - a 33-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, both from Ipswich - were detained 
    • The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder while the woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have been bailed to return to police on 27 February 2017
    • Two men from Luton, both aged 20, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to supply controlled drugs on 22 December. They have been released on bail until 6 March 2017

    With ice and fog expected to continue over the next few days, drivers in Norfolk and Suffolk are being advised to take extra care on the roads.

    Since Boxing Day there have been four fatalities in the two counties following crashes in Sproughton, Great Bradley and Thorndon - and in Weeting in Norfolk earlier today.

    Investigations are continuing into the causes of the crashes and road conditions will be taken into consideration.

  17. If it's not an emergency don't attend A&E, says James Pagetpublished at 16:18 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2016

    The James Paget University Hospital is asking people not to attend A&E unless their condition is life or limb threatening.

    All beds at the Gorleston hospital, which serves Norfolk and north Suffolk, are full with long waiting times in A&E. 

    Clinical wards are reviewing all patients so those who no longer need hospital-based care can either go home, or be moved to other healthcare providers.

    Demand has been building at the hospital since yesterday and it's expected the hospital will remain under significant pressure for the rest of this week and into the New Year weekend.  

  18. Travel: One lane remains closed east bound on A14 Orwell Bridgepublished at 16:09 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2016

    The latest we have from both Highways England and the police is that one lane of the A14 Felixstowe-bound continues to be closed following a collision between two lorries on the Orwell Bridge, which we first reported at about 13:45.

    It's not thought anyone was seriously injured.

    A female pedestrian who died following a collision with a car on the B1061 at Great Bradley on Tuesday morning, has been named as Claire Taylor, 41, from the village.

    Her family have paid tribute to her saying: "Claire was training hard for the Rome marathon that she was running in April 2017, her training was going well and she was on target. 

    "Claire will be sorely missed by all who knew her but especially her husband, two children, mother and family."

    Woodbridge had an "amazing run up to Christmas", according to the local business and tourism organisation.

    Laura Parkins, spokeswoman for Choose Woodbridge, external, said they don't find it hard to tempt people away from nearby Ipswich.

    "Our retailers have reported really good footfall," she said.

    "We've got the views, we've got the river, people like to pop in to town for a couple of hours of shopping and a coffee or some lunch.

    "They can go for a wander as well, so we've got different aspects that Ipswich doesn't."
