  7. Teenager charged with driving offences following police pursuitpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

    An 18-year-old man has been charged with six offences following a police pursuit on the outskirts of Ipswich yesterday.

    Shortly before 14:00 police tried to stop a blue Ford Focus near the junction of Main Road and Bell Lane, Kesgrave. It failed to stop and crashed with a police motorcycle.

    The car also caused damaged to a black BMW before it was stopped on Purdis Farm Lane.

    Two teenagers were arrested and an 18-year-old from north Essex has been charged with driving offences.

    A 17-year-old boy from the Saxmundham area has been released under investigation.

  9. Overnight road closure on A14 near Stowmarketpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

    Allow extra time for your journey or plan an alternative route if you are expecting to use the A14 westbound near Stowmarket tonight.

    It will be closed between junctions 50 and 49 from 20:00 until 06:00 tomorrow to allow further long-term repairs on the Hill House viaduct, which carries the A14 over the railway.

    Diversions will be in place between the two junctions, via the A1120 and the A1308.

    The road was closed for temporary repairs on Wednesday last week, leading to long delays for motorists.

    Patrick Lisoire, from the National Lottery, said: "At this time of year, obviously we're aware that people have been on holiday.

    "We do also find that people are quite habitual in their checking habits and may well store up some tickets for weeks and months on end before getting round to checking them.

    "If you're one of those people, I suggest you take five minutes out of your day and just check your tickets now as there's a ticket out there that's worth £1m."

    The Millionaire Maker Prize ticket was bought for the draw on Tuesday, 15 August.

    It's a mix of sunshine and showers, depending on where you are this afternoon.

    Heavy showers will be mostly near the coast, with sunny spells predominating in the west of the county.

    AFC Sudbury, external welcome Mildenhall Town, external to the Wardale Williams Stadium, just five days after they met in the Bostik North Division.

    Haverhill Borough, external are the only other Suffolk side at home, against Kings Langley.

    Three others are on the road - Needham Market, external go to Clapton, Lowestoft Town, external are at Bedford Town while Leiston, external head to Aylesbury.

    A patched-up Ipswich Witches, external team went down 55-38 at Redcar Bears in the Championship last night.

    The Suffolk side were without three of their regular riders and only Rory Schlein (15 points) and Kyle Newman (paid-12) reached double figures.

    "We were beaten by the better side and we need to put that right on Saturday night and I am sure we will," team manager Ritchie Hawkins (pictured) told the club website.

    "We didn't score that many points from rider replacement and the guests and that obviously affected our overall score. We cannot criticise anyone for their efforts it was just one of those nights."

    The two sides meet again at Foxhall tomorrow.
