  2. Antiques Roadshow: The wait is overpublished at 10:12 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    The gates have finally opened and the wait is over for those who've been queuing since dawn for the BBC Antiques Roadshow, external filming at Helmingham Hall.

    Most of the event takes place in the garden, so be prepared if you're heading down there... showers are forecast for later, which could be heavy and thundery at times.

    It's transfer deadline day and Ipswich Town, external are believed to be closing in on the loan signing of Brighton & Hove Albion centre-half Connor Goldson.

    The 24-year-old, who underwent heart surgery in March, has made just one appearance for the Seagulls this season - in last week's Carabao Cup tie against Barnet.

    Blues boss Mick McCarthy has been looking for cover in central defence, with Luke Chambers, Tommy Smith and Adam Webster all currently out injured.

  4. Antiques Roadshow at Helmingham Hallpublished at 09:31 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    It's time to dig out your heirlooms and dust down those antiques and head to Helmingham Hall.

    The BBC's Antiques Roadshow is there today, filming for one of the episodes in its 40th anniversary series.

    Along with the programme's experts will be Fiona Bruce, who says she's looking for a good "journalist story".

    "I'm in no way an antiques specialist but I know a good story when I see one... we had a chap who brought along a pile of letters that had belonged to his father - who'd died when this man was 19 and he's now in his 70s... he'd never opened them, they were written from his time during the war."

    BBC Radio Suffolk will be broadcasting live from the event, with Lesley Dolphin, from 13:00.

    Youngsters Adam McDonnell (20) and George Fowler (19) have joined National League club Aldershot on a months loan from Ipswich Town.

    Both players played the full 90 minutes of the Blues narrow Carabao Cup defeat at Crystal Palace just over a week ago. McDonnell also featured for Ipswich away at Luton earlier in the month.

    The duo will train with Gary Waddock's side for the first time tomorrow and could make their debut for the Shots during Saturday's FA Cup clash with Solihull Moors.

    There's not much change this evening as it'll be staying cloudy and cold with further outbreaks of rain, though this will gradually ease to become lighter and more patchy later.

    Mist and fog patches are possible during the night. It'll also feel chilly as temperatures dip to between 5-10C (41-50F).

    Chris Henderson joined us in the commentary box at the Amber Dew Events Stadium this week where his former club Lowestoft Town, external took on Leiston,, external who he joined in the summer.

    Leiston were comfortable winners on the day and are fourth n the Bostik Premier Division following an unbeaten and encouraging start to the season.

    By contrast, the Trawler Boys are struggling. Ady Gallagher's somewhat depleted squad find themselves in the relegation zone at this early stage with four defeats from five matches.

    Henderson though has been telling us that he believes Lowestoft's fortunes will improve:

    "The club is in a bit of a transitional period and I think that was the case when I was there last season as well," the midfielder said.

    "I didn't expect to see them challenging at the top this early in the season, but I don't think they're in any danger.

    "They have enough good players in their team and enough experience... I'm sure they'll be fine."

  13. Missing wreck diver namedpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 30 August 2017

    A scuba diver missing off the Norfolk coast has been named as Brighton man Terry Tonkin.

    The 67-year-old had been diving on a wreck when on Monday the coastguard was called after he failed to return to a dive vessel which had departed from the Port of Lowestoft.

    The group had been in the water 15 miles (24.1km) offshore from Great Yarmouth when the alarm was raised.

    After 14 hours, the search by the coastguard was suspended pending further information.

  14. Witches recruit former skipper for Redcar trippublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 30 August 2017

    Kevin Doolan will ride for the Ipswich Witches, external when they face Redcar in their latest championship meeting on Thursday night.

    The 36-year-old, who has previously captained the Suffolk side, replaces the injured Justin Sedgmen at number three.

    The Witches will use rider replacement to cover for the absence of Cameron Heeps.

    He suffered a fractured shoulder as a result of a fall during last week's win over Peterborough at Foxhall and there are doubts as to whether he'll feature again this season.

    Witches director Chris Louis said: "It's been confirmed that he's got a broken scapula. He's had treatment today and it's looking like a three to four week lay-off."

  17. Travel: Trains back on track after break downpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 30 August 2017

    Train services between Norwich and London are beginning to get back to normal this afternoon.

    All lines were closed earlier today after a train broke down at Ingatestone, blocking the tracks.

    Hundreds of passengers were delayed as trains were held at stations until the broken down carriages could be moved.

    All lines have now re opened.

    A Greater Anglia spokesperson said: "Several services were delayed or cancelled this morning due to a broken down train at Ingatestone.

    "Engineers were unable to fix the fault and the train terminated at Chelmsford.

    "We apologise for the disruption. Anyone affected may be entitled to claim delay repay compensation, external."

    The new Energy Minister Richard Harrington has told oil and gas leaders they have the "full support" of the UK government in maximising the economic potential of the North Sea.

    "These are challenging but exciting times with new opportunities in North Sea oil and gas," he said.

    "I want to make it clear that the industry has full support of the UK government, and that we are continuing to create the right environment though a stable and supportive package to allow business, enterprise and jobs to flourish."

    The government has committed more than £2bn to encourage oil and gas companies to drill deeper in the North Sea and extract oil and gas which has previously been considered too uneconomical to mine.

    Over the past 50 years the oil and gas industry has extracted more than 43 billion barrels from the North Sea.

    Current production accounts for more than 50% of UK gas demand and about 65% of UK oil demand.
