The money was taken from St Hilda's Church at about 22:45 on Saturday after a man who attended the concert approached one of the organisers at the end of the event.

A box containing money collected during the concert was knocked to the floor during the conversation, according to police. Organisers later realised a large sum of money was missing.

The man is described as about 6ft tall, in his late 20s or 30s, with dark hair and stubble, and he was wearing a cream jumper and jeans. He's also described as "eccentric".

Sgt Melanie Smith says: "This event was about giving something back to a local charity, but someone appears to have been more intent on taking something that wasn’t theirs.

"This has, quite understandably, upset those who worked hard to organise this event, and generous members of the community who supported it."

  2. Health services 'transformation' plan publishedpublished at 13:19 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2016

The health and social economy in Scarborough is "unsustainable both financially and clinically", a new report says, external.

The claim is part of the newly-published Humber Coast and Vale Sustainability and Transformation Plan which looks to address a health funding gap of about £450m by 2021.

The plan is the first stage in a programme of work by 21 local authorities, NHS commissioners and providers and other community-based organisations which started in April 2016.

According to the new plan, public services will need to work more with non-profit organisations and health services must support people to "take more responsibility for their own health" - meaning "reducing dependence on hospitals".
