    The video feed has been suspended while the relay spends some time at Newbattle Community High School. The students are playing the different sports that will feature at the Games. A jazz band is playing and everyone is getting their picture taken with the baton.

    There also appeared to be a very large bouncy castle that was looking quite popular.

    We've had some great cheers for the baton today, but we've now had some proper cheerleaders, complete with pom-poms, lining the route to Newbattle Community High School.

    The school takes part in the BBC's School Report scheme, and students have produced an article about their participation in the baton relay.

    The children of St Andrew's Primary School in Gorebridge made their own batons and placed a personal message to The Queen in each of them.

    In the four years since Ross Watters was appointed youth minister of Gorebridge Parish Church, he has gained masses of confidence by running a series of youth clubs, visiting local schools, supervising in lunchtimes and arranging to take youngsters to volunteer in Morocco.

    The baton relay organisers inform us he is a very calm character, even under difficult circumstances, who gains the respect of all those who meet him.

    We've had a slight mishap at Newtongrange. As baton bearer Brian Christie got up onto the podium, he placed the baton in its holder.

    But with a few people moving on the stage a few moments later it fell on to the ground. Luckily no damage was done and Brian's been enjoying the day.

    We're now here in Newtongrange. Janet Murray has just received the baton.

    Janet is the first Ageing Well volunteer for Midlothian. In the past 13 years she has led countless walks and reminiscing groups.

    She has also assisted with fitness MOTs, the Senior Olympics and helped and participated in Walk The Line and Seniors Week. According to those who nominated her to take the baton, she is an inspiration to the whole of Midlothian.
