    Erika Pryde emailed in to say: "One of my youth team that help with a variety of volunteer projects in the church and girl guiding will be taking the baton at Newbattle Medical Centre at 3.45ish today.

    "Her name is Natasha and she currently has about 5% vision as she has a degenerative eye problem.

    "Natasha does not let her lack of sight hold her back. She is trying to get her Queens Guide award. She is working towards her senior section permit so she can take other girl guides away on residential experiences, and she helps in some sheltered accommodations leading seated exercise activities.

    "As well as this she works at the church with children and young people at monthly events and an annual holiday club.

    "She is an inspiration - it is possible to have different abilities and live a full and active life. I am so proud of her."

    Scott Burns now has the baton. He is 85 and helped to organise Penicuik's gala celebrations and has volunteered for the British Heart Foundation. He also volunteered at both the 1970 and 1986 Commonwealth Games.

    London 2012 Olympian and two times Commonwealth Games medal winner Susan Egelstaff has tweeted, external her excitement about the Queen's Baton Relay.

    The badminton player wrote: "Really looking forward to being part of the @Batonrelay2014 event at @NewbattleHighPE this afternoon. Can't wait to see the baton up close."
