According to Police Scotland, about 8,000 people have welcomed the Queen's baton to Midlothian so far today. It's been a good turn out for a Monday morning.

Here are some young baton bearers and friends proudly posing in a school gym hall earlier.
For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the school though.
Hundreds of volunteers representing charities all round Scotland are taking part in the relay. We've enjoyed seeing them get shouts out on Twitter.

While the baton relay takes a well-earned break, here's an interesting fact from our friends at Glasgow 2014.
Three thousand balls will be used across six sports during the Games: hockey, lawn bowls, netball, rugby sevens, squash and table tennis.
There will now be a short break in the video stream as the baton relay stops for a lunch break.

Lovely scenes in Lasswade High School as hundreds of pupils welcome the baton.
Trish Divine emailed to say: 'I want to wish Linda Smith the best today and hope she enjoys the occasion. I'm sorry to can't be there to see it but look forward to the pictures.'
Carolyn Murphy said: 'I just wanted to give a mention to all my fellow volunteer drivers and hosts who are doing a sterling job. They are working away in the background making sure that each and every baton bearer's experience is wonderfully unique and enjoyable.
'I would like to give a special mention to Norman. They are the nicest, most well mannered, helpful and motivated bunch and superb role models. Looking forward to joining you all on the 27th June.'

We're now inside Lasswade High School. The baton will tour the school and stop for pictures.
The baton was escorted by Police Scotland to Bonnyrigg. First baton bearer here - Sharon Jones.
Baton bearer Kieran Fergusson, pictured with Commonwealth Games mascot Clyde at Penicuik High School. The baton has now moved on to Rosewell.
Jeanette has run youth clubs for nearly 30 years. She's also run the Scottish athletics junior league for the same length of time with her husband. Many in Rosewell view Jeanette as a proactive, giving, caring role model.
Later today, the Queen's Baton will visit Newbattle High School. While there, BBC School Reporters will be covering the event.
We're off in Rosewell. Our first baton bearer is a kilted Gordon Elphinstone.

Fiona Gibson now has the baton. For the past 20 years, Fiona has chaired the Penicuik Hunter and Lass Gala Committee. After doing so much for the community, the people Penicuik are now thanking her for all of her work.
